Chapter 16: Awake?

XYRIELLE

I woke up with the beeping sounds beside me. Blurred ang paningin ko kaya ilaw lang na nasa taas ang nakikita ko. Naramdaman ko na may humawak sakin sa kanang kamay ko. Tila dumilim uli ang paningin ko at pinikit uli ang mata.

-Before this scene-

NARRATOR'S POV

Mommy- Kelan po ba siya gigising, doc?

Doc Leiyanne- As far as we know, this kind of things approximately last for five months. But, things started to be complicated since ang tagal niya nang nakahilata sa kama at walang malay. We thought that she have a coma but it was really indistinct to clarify.

Mommy- Baka naman nacoma nga talaga siya doc!

Doc Lei- We'll do some tests later, Mrs. Laxamana.

Mommy- Sige, doc.

Doc Lei- Excuse me.

Sobrang alalang-alala na ang mommy ni Xyrielle. Hindi niya alam kung kelan ba talaga ito gigising at magkaka-malay. Araw-araw siyang nasa tabi neto at hindi iniiwan. Maging ang mga kuya ni Xyrielle ay gustong gusto na siyang magising. Dasal sila ng dasal sa diyos upang magising na si Xyrielle ngunit wala parin. Naka-ilang tanong na sila sa doktor pero ang palagi nilang sinasabi ay maghintay nalang daw muna sa mga ibabalita nila tuwing may bago na silang medikal na pagsusuri kay Xyrielle.

Maraming tao ang dumadalaw kay Xyrielle para makamusta at makita ang kalagayan nito. Pero, wala namang pinagkaiba ang unang araw niyang malagay sa kwarto pagkatapos ng operasyon hanggang ngayon.

Daddy- Magiging okay rin ang lahat. Mag-hintay lang tayo ng mas matagal pa.

Mommy- Di na ako makaintay pa ng matagal! Gusto ko ng magising ang anak ko!

Daddy- I know you miss her alot. We all do. But, there is nothing we can do but to pray for her. Don't lose hope, hun.

Mommy- Antagal niya ng nakahiga at tulog lang, hun. Bakit kasi ayaw niya pang gumising?!

Daddy- As long as she's stable, everything will be alright.

Mommy- Xyrielle, anak, gising na oh. Miss na miss ka na namin. Bakit ayaw mo pang gumising? Mag-sasampung buwan ka ng nakahilata dyan. Di ka ba nangangalay?

Daddy- Alot of people were visiting you and praying for you. Please wake up any time soon. Hun, kain muna tayo. Kanina ka pa hindi kumakain.

Mommy- How about Xyrielle? Di ko siya pwedeng iwan ng magisa.

Daddy- Clyde will be here any minute by now. Let's just wait.

Lumipas ang ilang minuto at dumating naman si Clyde. Isa pa siyang hindi mapakali na magising si Xyrielle. As much as kinakabahan siya sa pwedeng sabihin ng dalaga sakanya, hindi niya pa rin ito magawang iwanan.

Clyde- Hey.

Daddy- Clyde, please watch Xyrielle for a while. Kakain lang kami.

Clyde- Sure. I will take good care of her.

Mommy- Thank you Clyde. Kakausapin kita mamaya ah.

Clyde- Sure.

CLYDE

Mommy and Daddy left the hospital room leaving me with the unconscious Xyrielle.

It hurts me to see her like this. It breaks my heart. This breaks my heart more than knowing that she'll push me away when she remembers everything. I just need to see her well..

I stared at her and recall all the fun times we have. I miss her alot. I will sure do miss the times that I can hug her and kiss her. After this, she may not let me do those things again.

I saw her eyes opened, I stood up and held her hand. Is she awake?

Her eyes closed again. I immediantely pressed the call button for the nurses.

The doctor and some few nurse went in after a few minutes.

Doc- She opened her eyes?

Clyde- Yes. Yes, she did! But that's all. She stared at the ceiling for five seconds and closed again. She didn't move or said anything.

Doc- That's a sign that the patient may wake up anytime soon.

Clyde- Really, doc?

Doc- Yes. She's really strong and healthy. She fought and she's very very positive. I knew that she'll be ok after. She will be able to remember everything when she woke up too.

Clyde- Oh... That's a... good news.

Doc- Where are your parents?

Clyde- Went out to eat. They've been busy taking care of Xyrielle the whole day.

Doc- I see. We'll be doing a small check-up on her and see the results.

Clyde- Sure.

My breath hitched so I sat down. I felt like I'm about to fall and gave in. She's waking up soon. She'll be able to remember everything. I hope she forgives me or just let me talk to her. I know I made a mistake but I want to change it. I'm scared she might push me away again.
