Peter hates peppermint

As Tony was scrolling the internet at three in the morning, he came across a fact.

Fact: Spiders hate peppermint.

But that got Tony thinking...

What about Spider-Kids?

He had a simple plan. Invite Peter to the lab, give him a stick of gum, analyze. He clicked on Peter's contact name (which is just simply 'Kid'). He picked up on the first ring.

"Hey, Mr. Stark!"

(Tony smiled. Why was this kid so precious? He was just always happy.) "Hi, Peter. So I was thinking, do you want to come to the lab after school? I thought we could tinker with some of my cars and make them..more better."

"More better. Mr. Stark that's- Nevermind. I'll be there. Is Happy picking me up?"

"Yeah."

"Okay. Bye Mr. Stark, I lo-I mean, I can't wait to see you there!"

The call ends and Tony gets ready for step two. He puts a stick of peppermint gum in his pocket and puts another in his mouth. It would look suspicious if he wasn't chewing gum while offering a piece. And then, he waits.

Soon enough, Peter comes in with an excited aura around him. Bouncing on his feet, smiling, talking nonstop, etc. They get started on the car, and soon Tony starts step three.

"Hey Peter," he starts. "Do you want a stick of gum?"

Peter glances up at him from the car. "Oh. Does my breath smell bad? I brushed my teeth, they shouldn't-"

Tony cuts him off. "No, I just have another piece and I'm already chewing some." He holds it up for him and Peter takes it. Tony watches carefully as Peter unwraps the gum and puts it in his mouth.

Peter freezes into an unemotional face and lets the gum fall out of his mouth and onto the floor. He scrunches in distaste. "What was wrong with that gum?" He asks robotically.

Tony is almost shocked. Peter never acts this way. "Nothing is wrong with it. On the other hand, what kind of toothpaste do you use?"

Peter's eyes widen. "You tricked me into eating peppermint gum?!"

Tony smiles and nods. "And you took the bait. But seriously, if you can't eat peppermint, what kind of toothpaste do you use?"

Peter blushes and mumbles something.

"What was that?" Tony asks.

"I use the children's fruit kind because all the adult toothpaste is peppermint."

Tony smiles. "That's adorable."

"No it's not! Why do I even hate peppermint so much? How did you know to test it?"

"Because spiders hate peppermint. And apparently, so do Spider-Kids."
