Sarge trotted behind Chris as he went around the house, making sure the doors were locked and all the windows closed before he went to climb into bed with his wife. The kids had already been put to sleep a couple hours ago but now, the couple decided to turn into bed too. Chris took Sarge out to go to the bathroom one more time before he walked up the stairs to head to his bedroom.
He was looking forward to snuggling with his precious Nina but was surprised when he walked into the bedroom and didn't find her there. She had gone up the stairs just a few moments ago while he went to check the doors... so where was she?
His strong protective side came out, and he had to look for her. Chris walked down the hall, prepared to head to the kitchen, thinking maybe she was getting something to drink but when he passed by one of the kids bedrooms, he saw the door half open.
Chris looked into Ryan, their youngest's room and that's where he found her. The moonlight was pouring into the room, illuminating it up enough so that he could see that their four year old son wasn't the only one in his bed. Both Logan and Jack were in bed with him while they all snuggled together, despite them all having their own rooms.
His blue eyes saw Nina sitting on the floor, gently stroking their son's hair while gazing at them. It was at that moment that the moonlight helped him see soft tears streaming down her cheeks. Chris leaned against the doorframe and softly called out, "Nina?"
She hadn't realized he was there and quickly looked over to see his hunky frame in the doorway as he asked, "You alright, sweetheart?"
She nodded while wiping at her tears with the back of her hand. Nina stood up and placed a gentle kiss on each of the little boy's foreheads before silently walking over to leave the room but she just couldn't pry herself away. She leaned up against Chris' hunky frame in the doorway and hooked her arms around his waist while gazing at their sweet boys in bed together.
"Are you okay, Nina?" Chris asked in a soft voice, still wanting to know what she was feeling.
She nodded and hugged onto him tighter before looking up with her watery eyes and told him, "I just love those boys so much Chris. I love our little family."
"Oh honey," He cooed, feeling his heart warm by her sweetness and held her tightly.
"I just am so happy. I couldn't have asked for a better family," Nina's silky smooth voice said. "And I just love to see how much they love each other."
"They are such good boys, and they are lucky to have the best mother in the world who loves them more than anything," Chris spoke what he honestly felt. "When I married you, I couldn't believe how much I loved you and I didn't know it was possible to love you more but every single day I'm with you makes me love you more."
Nina couldn't even say anything. She just softly cried happy tears while clinging onto her devoted husband who held her tight. Chris rubbed her back until her tears stopped and then he turned his blue eyes to look at the three boys snuggled in bed together, fast asleep.
"Nina, have you thought about having more kids?" He asked.
She was quiet for a short moment before telling him, "A little bit but I've just been pretty happy with the boys, so I haven't given it too much thought... why? Are you thinking you want more?"
"Do you?" Chris didn't want to push her into anything.
Nina shone her dark eyes up at him and smiled before telling him, "I asked you first."
He chuckled softly before he nodded, "Yeah... I think I'd like maybe one more, but only if you do."
Nina looked over at their sweet boys and envisioned one more little boy snuggled in that bed with big blue eyes and soft brown hair just like Chris. Her mind was filled with the thought of holding a soft baby and how cute Chris always was when they brought each of their son's home from the hospital and would introduce them to Sarge. Or how sweet it was when he came home from work in his police uniform and all the boys would maul him and Chris would scoop them up in a pile and give them all kisses. She thought about what a wonderful father he was and how much he treasured each one of the members of their little family, including her, and in that moment, she knew exactly what she wanted.
"I think one more sounds perfect," Nina told her husband.
In one swift move, Chris scooped her up in his muscular arms and carried her to the bedroom while chuckling, "Then what are we waiting for?"
