Trick-Or-Treat

"Mooooooom when can we go trick or treating?" Logan impatiently asked while he pulled off the mask of his ninja costume to look at her.

"As soon as Dad gets home," Nina told him while she rested her hands on the back of the couch, looking over it to see where the boys were sitting on the floor building legos. "But I have a little treat for you guys in the kitchen."

Their little eyes all grew wide, realizing what the traditional snack their mother made on Halloween and they all shouted, "CARAMEL POPCORN!"

Nina's whole face beamed as she started laughing while they raced by to go get some. The sudden absence of noise made Sophie start babbling, almost asking where everyone went. The doting mother walked over and picked her up from her bouncer and kissed her chubby cheeks.

"Oh Sophie do you hear that?" Nina asked when she heard the front door open and the sound of Sarge's collar clinking right afterwards. "Daddy and Sargey are home."

When Chris appeared, the baby smiled and Chris couldn't resist taking her when Nina held Sophie out to him. He held her up in the air before bringing her back down and kissing her little face, making her giggle and her legs start kicking.

"Hi baby girl. Hi Sophie. There's my precious girl," He cooed, unable to stop himself from kissing at her sweet face.

Nina was busy greeting Sarge with scratches behind his ears but the moment was interrupted when the boys came in the room and Jack shouted, "DAD'S HOME!"

"C'mon!" Logan yelled before the three boys ran right past them and up the stairs.

Chris look bewildered before he chuckled, asking Nina, "What was that all about?"

"They're dying to go trick-or-treating and I told them we'd go when you came home," Nina snickered. "So if you need to go to the bathroom or want to change out of your uniform, I'd do it now because they're going to be back down here hanging on you in about two seconds."

Chris laughed and sat Sophie down on the couch, Sarge immediately hopping up to lay by the baby he was so protective of. This gave Chris time to take his gun belt off and put it on top of a cabinet where the kids can't reach before walking back over and wrapping his thick arms around Nina's waist. He leaned in and pressed a sweet kiss to her lips before he just hugged her tightly, holding her in his arms and just enjoying her embrace.

"I'm so glad to be home. I missed you a lot today... I don't know why but I just kept thinking about you and all I wanted was a hug from my Nina," He admitted while burying his face into her neck.

"Mhmm well you know I'll give you as many as you want," She smiled while rubbing his back as he held her tight. "I love you so much."

"I love you too, sweetheart," Chris gave her another kiss before letting her go and then his face lit up while he snapped his fingers, "Oh! I almost forgot!"

Nina watched as he walked over and grabbed the back he brought in, explaining to her, "When I was on my lunch break, I bought Sophie a little halloween costume!"

He pulled out a little pumpkin costume complete with a hat that had an adorable stem on it and instantly Nina was clasping her hands together as she went, "Awwww! Chris that is the cutest thing!"

"Isn't it?" He chuckled while going over to put it on Sophie, both of them cooing and Chris snapping pictures on his phone.

It didn't take long for the boys to come running down the stairs in their costumes, begging their parents to go. Once they had Sophie in the stroller and Chris had helped Nina on with her jacket, they headed out the front door but before the kids could get far down the pathway, Chris told them to wait.
