"MOMMMMM! JACK AND JANE ARE MAKING OUT IN THE LIVING ROOM!" Logan's voice rang through the house, making Nina chuckle as she walked down the stairs with Chris right behind her.

"No we're not!" Jack quickly battled as his parents walked into the living room.

Logan and Ryan were sitting in front of the television, playing video games while Sophie sat in a nearby chair happily drawing. Tonight was the night of prom and it had been just a few minutes earlier when Jane had arrived but Nina told Jack to make sure not to leave until she could take pictures of them but them waiting had apparently lead to some kissing while they stood off to the side of the room.

"Yes they were! They were being disgusting!" Logan kept on once he turned his head and saw his parents.

"We were not making out," Jack grabbed a pillow and threw it at his younger brother while Jane blushed a deep shade of red.

"Both of you, zip it," Chris teased them, snatching the pillow out of the air and hitting Logan over the head gently before launching it back at Jack.

While the boys all were horsing around, Nina made her way over to the sweet seventeen year old girl standing next to her son. Ever since Jack was friends with Jane when they were children, and then started dating in their teens, Nina had adored the sweet girl. She found such a kindred spirit in Jane, understanding her shyness and tender nature.

For a similar reason, Chris loved her just as much. It wasn't that he found a kindred spirit, but rather saw such a resemblance to his precious Nina. They were so much alike and Chris knew that Jack had found a gem in her just as he had such a treasure in his wife.

Nina hugged Jane tightly before standing back and resting her hands on her arms, taking in the sight of her in the cute pink high neck dress, "Oh Janey, honey you look so beautiful!"

"Thank you Mrs. Evans," She beamed from the praise of the woman that Jane loved so much. "I really loved this dress because it looks kind of vintage but I hope I don't stand out too oddly. I saw some of the dresses on social media that the other girls are wearing and mine looks so different. I know it's silly but I'm kind of nervous they'll look at me weird."

Nina put a hand on her cheek and assured her, "It's perfect and you look more beautiful than any of the other girls."

"That's for sure," Jack beamed, resting a hand on her back and leaning in to kiss her cheek sweetly. "And if anyone makes fun of my girl, they'll have me to answer to."

Nina couldn't help but laugh, her eyes squinting up as she looked over at Chris as he walked over, "Hmmm... now I wonder where he gets that from?"

"I have no idea," Chris playfully shrugged his broad shoulders.

They all shared a laugh before Chris hugged Jane and told her, "You look real pretty, Janey. But if during prom, Jack starts putting his hands anywhere other than your waist, you call me and I'll come beat him up."

"Daaaaad," Jack groaned while Jane giggled softly.

Chris kept on teasing his son until Nina made them stand out on the deck while she snapped so many pictures, Chris told her, "Honey, you're going to fill up the storage on your phone at this rate."

"Okay, okay, just one more!" She insisted before they shared more hugs before the young couple headed off to dinner before prom.

Chris and Nina walked back inside and snuggled up on the couch, while the boys played video games. Nina looked through the photos she just took while Chris wrapped an arm around her, nestling a kiss by her ear before holding his free arm out and beckoned his daughter, "Soph, come over and show me what you're drawing. I want to see."

The eleven year old beamed as she hurried over to snuggle up to her father and show him her drawings and Nina put her phone down to look at each of Sophie's drawings. Once she proudly showed her parents, Logan and Ryan invited her to play the video game with them so she went to sit on the floor next to them, leaving Chris and Nina snuggled up once again.

Nina's phone that was sitting on the cushion dinged and she picked it up, smiling at the text Jack had sent her, telling her they just got to the school and parked. She loved that even though he was a junior in high school, he still would text his mother to let him know he got somewhere safely.

"He better behave himself tonight and keep his hands in plain sight," Chris chuckled in reference to their son.

"He will, honey," Nina assured him while laying her head on his shoulder and he wrapped both of his thick arms around her. "Jack is a good and respectful boy... just like his dad."

"If there is one thing I want my boys to learn above anything else is to respect women," He was honest. "And with Jack, I want him to treasure Janey's sweet and sensitive spirit. So many people take that for granted and I know from experience that being with a person like that is the greatest gift and joy in life."

Instantly tears gathered in Nina's eyes and she snuggled in closer to Chris, relishing his embrace. He may think that he was the lucky one, but Nina knew they both were lucky and she knew that she'd always be thankful for him.
