Big tears rolled down Sophie's cheeks as she clung to her mother. Nina was trying to fight off her own tears while she held onto her little daughter while Sophie cried, "I don't want to go to Kindergarten!"

"I know it's scary honey, but you're going to have a great first day!" Nina rubbed her back and tried to soothe her.

Sophie's little bottom lip trembled as she cried, "B-but I'll miss you! I want to stay with you mommy!"

Nina wanted nothing more than burst into tears just like her little daughter, but she knew that had to wait until she was home alone with Chris. She knew that her husband would comfort her the way that Sophie needed to be comforted now in this moment. She hugged Sophie tightly and stroked her hair until her little tears had calmed down into little sniffles right as Chris walked through the door, home from taking the boys to school.

"Hey, what's with the tears, peanut?" Chris called Sophie by his nickname for her while he came over to kneel his hunky frame down next to where Nina was sitting on the floor soothing their daughter.

"I don't wanna go to kindergarten, I wanna stay with mommy!" Sophie clung to her sweet mother.

Chris chuckled before leaning in to give Sophie a kiss on the cheek, scratching her soft skin with his stubbled jaw, before he told her, "I understand that... I still don't like to leave mommy when I go to work," He couldn't help but joke, making Nina laugh softly before he reached out to cup Sophie's cheek, "But honey, you're going to have fun at school."

"And you're going to learn new things and make so many new friends," Nina piped in while she wiped away Sophie's tears. "Remember too, you only have to go to half day kindergarten and Daddy doesn't have to go to work until tonight so him and I will pick you up and we'll go out to lunch and you can tell us all about your day."

The little girl looked up at her mother before turning to her father, rubbing her big brown eyes that mirrored her mother's and made him melt, before she asked, "....Can we get ice cream?"

A wide grin appeared on Chris' stubbled face while he patted her knee, "You bet, peanut."

Chris pushed his hunky frame up off the floor and got Sophie's shoes, sweater, and backpack while Nina held Sophie in her lap and kept kissing at her face until the little girl was giggling. When Chris came back, he helped her on with her shoes, and Nina held out Sophie's sweater so that she could slip it on. Chris carried her princess backpack and Nina took her hand while they went out to the car to drive to school.

The entire way, the parents talked about all the fun things she would get to do, their young daughter started getting more and more excited meanwhile Nina became more and more sad. Every time that she took one of their children to the first day of kindergarten, Nina always was very emotional so with each of their four kids, Chris took the day off. It had become a tradition for them to go back home and he'd make her breakfast and then hold her while she cried and the two would reflect on what wonderful kids they had and Chris planned on doing the same thing today. He always hated to see his precious wife crying but he loved to get to be the one holding her to help soothe her.

Chris pulled the car into the parking lot of the school before he unbuckled his seat belt, resting a hand on Nina's leg while he turned and looked at Sophie in the backseat. Her soft brown curls were pulled up into two cute pigtails and her face was broken out into a big smile that mirrored her mother's as he asked, "Are you ready, peanut?"

"Yeah!" She now was full of excitement rather than fear.

The family got out of the car and Nina helped her on with her backpack before she held one of Sophie's hands and Chris held the other while they headed into the school. They swung Sophie's hands back and forth, making her laugh while they walked in and entered into the school and found the crowded Kindergarten classroom.

Chris and Nina helped Sophie hang up her backpack and found her desk, making sure she was all settled before Nina, with teary eyes, hugged Sophie tight and told her, "You're going to have a great first day sweetie and Daddy and I will be back to pick you up at lunch." Nina pressed a big kiss to her daughter's cheek and told her, "I love you so much sweetie."

"I love you Mommy," Sophie snuggled into her doting mother and kissed her right back before Chris got his turn.

He put his big hand on her tiny back and Nina watched as his kind eyes arched at looked at Sophie, assuring her, "You're going to be amazing today, peanut. When Mommy and I pick you up, I want to hear every detail, okay?"

She smiled brightly at him and agreed before throwing her little arms around his neck and kissed him, saying, "I love you Daddy."

"I love you too, Soph," He tenderly whispered while he held her up against his toned chest.

The parents both got a few more hugs and kisses from Sophie before Chris put his hand on the small of Nina's back and led her toward the door of the classroom. Before they made it out, Nina couldn't help but turn back and look through the doorway, her tears finally spilling out as she watched Sophie sitting at her desk, waving at them.

While Nina smiled and waved back, she felt a wet tear drip onto her shoulder... but she realized it wasn't hers. Confused, she wrinkled her forehead and turned to look up at Chris which is where she found the answer to her silent question. The hunky police officer stood there, his bright blue eyes red and glossy while he quietly sniffled and tried to wipe away his tears with the back of his hand but a few still escaped down and disappeared into his scruff.

Nina could count on two hands the few times she had seen Chris cry. It wasn't his automatic response like it was for Nina. Chris was a calm man and because of his police officer training he knew how to handle situations and his emotions so to see him this way let Nina know that he was feeling a lot in this moment.

Instantly she threw her arms around his toned middle and hugged him tightly in the hallway, knowing that being cuddled by her was the most effective way to calm him and he happily accepted the comfort. Chris clung to his precious wife and buried his face into the crook of her neck while he softly cried.

"I just can't believe she's in kindergarten already," Chris sniffled as he lifted his head and wiped his eyes with the back of his hand. "She's our baby."

"I know honey," Nina cooed while she reached up to kiss his cheek. "But no matter how old Sophie gets... she'll always be our baby."
