"Alright Noah," The sweet aunt started while she knelt down once they were in front of the police station and looked into her nephews little eyes. "Chris and Jake are staying after their shift to give you a tour so make sure you're very nice to them and have good manners."
"I will Auntie Nina," He obediently nodded. "Can we go in now?"
She smiled at his enthusiasm before standing and taking Noah's hand, before she led him into the bustling police station. Nina came to the front desk and got the visitor badges that Chris had left for them before going back into a bustling room full of officers and detectives. She held onto Noah's hand tightly while looking around the room.
Nina was just about to get her phone out and call Chris when a man approached her and smiled, "You look a little bit lost."
"I am," Nina sweetly laughed. "I'm looking for Officer Evans or Officer Davis, have you by any chance seen either one of them?"
"Yeah, I actually just passed them in the hall. I'll radio for them..." The man trailed off before asking. "I'm sorry, I didn't get your name."
"Oh I'm Nina Wilson," She shook his hand with a smile.
The man gave her a long look before smirking, "Oh so you're Nina."
She didn't quite know how to respond but ended up blushing furiously when the man radioed and said, "Hey Evans, your girl is here for you."
Nina heard his muffled voice on the other end reply, "Tell Nina I'll be right there."
She couldn't help but notice how when the other officer joked about Nina being his girl, Chris instantly knew that he was referring to her. Nina wouldn't deny to herself that it made her feel special and she kind of liked it. She didn't have time to dwell on it though because the partners walked through the doors with Sarge trotting behind.
"Nina!" Jake shouted in his exuberant way, wrapping her up in a big hug.
"Hi Nina," Chris smiled, hugging her before kneeling his bulky frame in front of Noah. "Hi Noah, it's so nice to meet you."
Immediately the little boy stood up straight and saluted the broad shouldered man, "Hello Officer Evans."
"Bud, you don't have to call him Officer Evans, you can call him Chris," Jake kneeled down and told the little boy with a smile.
Noah shook his head back and forth, making his brown hair flop, before he insisted, "No, you always call them Officer."
"Sweetie, it's okay. Jake and Chris are our friends," Nina tried to encourage him.
"That's being disrespectful though," Noah plainly stated.
Chris chuckled, making his blue eyes crinkle in laughter, "It's not being disrespectful Noah, you can call me Chris. But if you'd rather call me Officer Evans, you can. I'm just happy to came to visit me, I heard you want to be a police officer when you grow up so I'm excited to get to show you around."
"Noah, want to pet Sarge? He's Chris' dog and he goes with Jake and Chris everywhere," Nina asked as she was petting the dog whose tail was wagging like crazy.
Chris took Noah's little hand in his big one and held it out with their palms facing up. Sarge walked over and sniffed it thoroughly before licking their palms and made Noah giggle furiously.
"It tickles!" Noah laughed.
"Sarge is a good dog. He has to go to lots of training to be a police dog just like we do," Chris explained.
"But your Aunt Nina is his favorite person we see every day because she always gives him treats," Jake laughed.
Nina smiled while petting the dog's head, earning her a lick to her face. Chris asked Noah if he wanted to see around the station to which the little boy eagerly nodded his head. Chris put his hand on his knee and pushed his tall frame up while Noah gently slipped his hand into his big one, making Chris smile.
Nina grinned, kissing Noah's cheek before she walked alongside them with Jake and Sarge trotted right next to his master. Jake started telling Noah all of the silly stories that had happened to the pair while Chris patiently answered each and every one of the little boy's questions.
They spent almost two hours going through every room in the police station, Noah's eyes wide with interest but when they got to where the police cars were kept, he couldn't contain his excitement.
"Want to go for a ride?" Chris asked.
"YAYAYAYAY!" Noah squeezed Chris' hand tight as he bounced up and down.
"I hate to miss out on this but I have to get to a dentist appointment," Jake started, kneeling down and hugging Noah tight. "Now you have your Auntie bring you back to hang out with us, okay?"
He eagerly nodded before Nina thanked Jake before he left. The three then went over to an officer at a desk. Chris leaned his free arm on the desk and told him that they were going to take one of the cars out.
"Oh, so you're the one that Chris and Jake go to see every day," The man smirked similar to the other officer earlier. "We've all heard a lot about you from Chris."
"Well can you blame me for wanting to see that beautiful face every day can you?" Chris smiled while looking over at Nina.
Hearing these words from Chris made Nina's cheeks burn red. She was surprised by the comment but she didn't mind it at all. Nina just tried to distract the butterflies in her stomach and that turned out to be easy since Chris led them over to the police car where he helped buckle Noah in the passenger seat while Nina and Sarge sat in the back and he drove.
Chris drove them through downtown Seattle, showing Noah all the scanners and buttons. He even let Noah turn the siren on which made the little boy buzz with excitement. Once they got back to the station, Chris pulled out a plastic police badge that they had at the station for when schools and such visited and he kneeled down, putting it on Noah's tee shirt.
"There, now you're an officer in training," Chris smiled at him.
Noah saluted the man, making him laugh before saying, "Thank you Officer Evans!"
"Thanks for coming to visit me. I loved hanging out with you today," He honestly told him before patting his dogs head who was sitting at his side. "And so did Sarge."
Noah petted the German Shepherd before looking up at Chris who had quickly become his hero. He couldn't help himself any longer and threw his little arms around Chris' neck, hugging him tight. Chris melted at his sweetness and put his thick arms around Noah, hugging him right back.
Chris eventually stood up and picked Noah up easily, carrying him in his arms as Noah chatted about his favorite parts of the day as Chris walked next to Nina out of the police station and Sarge trotted along behind happily. Nina couldn't help but admire the cute sight, thinking about what a wonderful father Chris would make one day.
Once they finally made it out to Nina's small car, Chris put Noah down on the ground before Nina rested her slender hand on his muscular forearm to get his attention. His blue eyes looked down into her warm ones while she began, "Chris, my sister Katie is so appreciative of you and Jake doing this for Noah and so am I. It's especially nice while his dad is on deployment to be able to do special things for him and I'm just so thankful for you doing it for him."
"It truly was my pleasure," Chris honestly replied.
"Well we want to say thank you by making you dinner so I was wondering if you were free on Saturday night to come over to my place?" She asked, tucking a piece of her caramel waves behind her ear.
He smiled widely at her, "I'd love to."
Nina exuberantly grinned before telling him she'd call Jake and invite him. She gave him a warm hug before getting in the car with Noah and heading to take him back home. Nina then started making mental notes at all the things she needed to do to ensure that everything was perfect for Saturday.
