"I hate math," Logan whined from where he sat doing his homework at the dining room table.

"It's not as bad as this chemistry homework," Jack piped up from next to him, looking at his textbook and writing something down on his paper.

Ryan happily closed his book and announced to his older brothers, "I'm done with my homework!"

Logan made a face at him before telling Ryan, "Don't rub it in!"

The little brother just laughed before the two started playfully tusseling and tossing wadded up paper at one another. Nina walked in on the scene and laughed at them while Ryan complained jokingly, "Mom! Logan is trying to beat me up!"

"Yeah it looks that way," She snickered before asking, "Can you two stop fighting long enough to have a brownie?"

"YES!" The two shouted.

Nina smiled while she held out the plate to the boys who devoured the chocolate treat while she walked around the table and held the plate out to Jack. He put his pencil down and smiled up at her, the exact same way Chris does, before taking a brownie and kissing his mother's cheek, telling her, "Thanks Mom."

"You're welcome sweetie," She kissed his forehead. "I thought you might need a homework break."

The loving mother then went over to the living room where Sophie was laying on her stomach on top of the soft carpet with Sarge laying right next to her. She had all of her drawing supplies out and was busy working on a sketch but when Sarge lifted his head, it alerted her that someone was there and she smiled wide when she saw it was her mom.

"Hi honey, want a brownie?" Nina asked.

"Oooh yeah!" The little girl grinned while she sat up.

Nina came over and sat on the floor next to her, letting Sophie take a brownie before she took one for herself. The two sat there chatting about Sophie's day at school and the drawings she was working on before the conversation took a turn and Sophie wondered aloud, "Mommy... how did Daddy propose to you?"

"Well..." Nina was caught off guard by the question but smiled as she told her daughter, "He actually proposed to me right there," She pointed to the spot right in front of the couch.

"Really?" The little brunette tilted her head.

Nina smiled, eating the last bite of her brownie before going on, "Yeah, it was Daddy's birthday and he was hurt so I was over here at his house taking care of him. He told me he had a surprise for me and then he asked me to marry him. It was very special."

"What was your wedding like?" She wanted to know.

Nina got to her feet and went over to the bookcase, digging through to find the wedding album that she treasured. Once she found it, Nina brought it back over and sat by Sophie as she opened the album and showed her the first page.

As this was going on, Chris had gotten home from work and immediately kicked off his shoes and took off his gun belt. He untucked his shirt and unbuttoned the top few buttons to make him more comfortable before he walked down the hall and found the boys at the kitchen table.

"Hey guys, how was school?" He asked but then stopped short when he saw Jack holding his half eaten brownie. "Wait a minute... did your mom make brownies?"

"Yeah and they're the fudgy ones too," Logan informed his father. "Mom's in the living room."

Instantly Chris made a beeline to find the chocolate treat as his stomach growled. On any day he would be excited to eat some of Nina's delicious baking, but especially today since he had missed lunch because of how busy it had been. He was practically licking his lips as he entered the living room, but once he did, he seemed to forget all about his hunger because he became focused on the adorable sight that he found.

Sarge was laying sprawled out on the carpet while Nina and Sophie both were laying on their backs with their head on the dog as a pillow, who loved the snuggles. They both were looking at some book, smiling and chatting about whatever was on the page. Chris beamed as he watched his girls and he felt like his heart was swelling.

They looked so adorable laying there and Chris admired how much alike they looked. He loved how much Sophie mirrored his Nina, not only in looks, but in her personality. Sophie was tender and sweet, loving and affectionate, gentle and kind, just like her mother. He admired the way their noses crinkled up the same way, how their dark eyes sparkled, and the way their entire faces lit up when they smiled, which right now was being directed at him.

"Chris, I didn't hear you come in," Nina said to him.

"Oh I just came in a second ago, and I heard there were brownies," He informed the pair, shuffling his sock covered feet across the carpet.

Nina laughed while she picked up the plate and handed it to him with a warning for his sweet tooth, "Don't get a stomach ache from eating too many!"

"No promises," He snickered, making his wife laugh before he practically ate an entire brownie in one bite.

"Hi Daddy!" Sophie smiled before showing him the book they were looking at, "Mommy is showing me pictures from your wedding!"

One of his eyebrows rose while he sat down on the floor next to his girls. He held the plate in his lap and picked up a second brownie, eating this one slower while his blue eyes looked over to see the picture and he couldn't help but beam.

The photo was of Nina. She was in her wedding dress with her white veil falling around her face. She had an easy smile on her lips and you could practically feel her sweetness oozing from the photo. It had always been one of his favorites and he told Sophie, "Your mom was the prettiest bride ever."

"That's a slight exaggeration," Nina chuckled while turning the page.

Chris reached out and gently brushed his knuckles on Nina's cheek, getting her attention while he gazed down at her and responded, "Not to me, it's not."

She blushed softly before taking his hand and bringing it to her mouth, nestling a kiss in the palm of his hand while telling him, "I love you."

"I love you too, sweetheart," He couldn't help but lean over and sneak a quick kiss from her.

Sophie had kept flipping through the pages of the photo album, asking them tons of questions but Chris found the last question she asked the most important. Her big brown eyes looked up at him and asked Chris, "Some of the kids at school were talking about weddings and the boys said that weddings are just for girls, and boys don't care about stuff like that."

Chris just chuckled as he shook his head and told his daughter, "Soph... that couldn't be farther from the truth. When it was my wedding, that was the best day of my life because I got to marry your mom. I still treasure that memory and I still think it was the best day of my life. Besides, if I didn't marry your mom, I wouldn't have had you."

He reached over to tickle her side, making her giggle before he added, "And if you ever are with a boy who doesn't think your wedding day is special... you run far away from him."

Sophie nodded while Nina just laughed as she looked at her husband and told him, "Are you kidding? If Sophie is ever with a boy like that, she won't have to run because her Daddy will have already chased him away!"

Chris tipped his head back and laughed loudly before he shrugged, knowing Nina was right. He wouldn't let Sophie be with anyone who didn't treasure and adore her, the way he treasured and adored his Nina. But for right now, he was thankful that he got to have his girls all to himself.
