Daddy Daughter Date

"Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!" The little girl's voice echoed through the house the second the police officer walked through the door that Wednesday evening.

The patter of her little feet could be heard as she ran down the hall with Sarge right behind her. She kept calling his name over and over until she reached the hunky man and he immediately scooped her up in his thick arms and kissed all over her little face, making her squeal.

"There's my peanut!" Chris smiled brightly, pressing one last big kiss on her cheek.

"Daddy, when are we going on our date?" The kindergartener asked with bright expectant eyes. "Can we go now?"

A soft chuckle escaped his lips while he walked down the hall with his daughter in his arms. Chris wouldn't lie, he was kind of tired after his day and would have liked to have a little break but there was no way he could disappoint his sweet faced little daughter. When he looked into those beautiful brown eyes he found himself answering, "Let me say hi to your brothers and give mommy a kiss then we'll go. Why don't you go get changed, honey?"

She nodded her head eagerly before Chris set her down and she ran up to her room. All the boys were in the backyard playing catch and Chris stayed out with them to play for a little while before heading back inside the home.

Chris took the stairs two at a time and went to the bedroom to change out of his uniform and into some jeans and a black sweater before he went in search of his wife.

"Nina! Nina, where are you, sweetheart?" He called out.

Her sweet as honey voice replied, "In Sophie's room!"

He followed the sound of her voice and walked into his daughter's room where he found the two most important girls in his life. Nina sat on the small bed with Sophie in her lap. The little girl was wearing a pink floral dress, with white tights and a cardigan and Nina was just finishing pulling her short hair into two cute little pig tails.

"You're a lucky girl Soph," Nina started while she stole a glance at her husband. "You got your normal Sunday morning breakfast out with Daddy and he's taking you out for dinner today."

"I like going on dates with Daddy," She smiled widely, swinging her legs back and forth.

Nina finished securing the hair tie around her pig tails before kissing her and said, "He's the best man in the world to go on dates with."

The sweet words went right to her husband's heart and he smiled at her, silently telling her how much it meant to him before Sophie stole his attention as she hurried over to stand in front of him and look up. She held onto his big hand and told him, "I'm ready Daddy!"

Chris knelt down and placed his hands on her small waist, looking at her and was struck by how much she mirrored Nina. She had the same short brown chocolate wavy hair, same big brown sparkling eyes, same bright smile and the same sweet expressions.

"You're so beautiful... just like your Mama," He told her, making her giggle as he poked her stomach but then pretended to loudly whisper, "Want to know the prettiest thing about Mommy?"

"What?" Sophie bounced on her heels, eager to know.

Chris looked up and locked eyes with his wife while he answered, "The person she is inside is the most beautiful thing about her."

He could see the tears glossing Nina's eyes but Sophie was the next one to speak up as she looked between her parents and said, "Yeah.... I love mommy's kisses and snuggles. But her hair is pretty too."

Her admission made both of them laugh and earned her a kiss on the cheek from her father while he hooked an arm around her, patting her bum softly while he chuckled, "That's also true, peanut."

After their sweet moment, they all went downstairs and the pair both got hugs and kisses from Nina and Chris gave hugs to their sons before he left with Sophie. While he spent time with the youngest of the Evans children, Nina got a pizza for her and the boys and the four snuggled on the couch while watching a movie.

It started to grow late and Nina put the kids to bed before she changed into her pajamas and climbed into her own bed with a book. A little while later, the door slowly opened and she saw a familiar handsome face.

"I was wondering when you were going to be home," Nina put her book down on her lap.

"We just were having so much fun that I didn't realize it was past her bedtime," He explained while stripping off his jeans and tee shirt before coming to climb into bed. "She fell asleep on the way home though so I put her to bed."

Nina turned at looked at him, her warm smile shining as she asked, "So you two had fun?"

"Oh we had the best time. I just love spending time with her," Chris gushed while the two snuggled closer together under the sheets. "She just has the cutest little observations and getting to hear about how she's feeling about kindergarten was so good for me to know. I swear I would do anything to see that cute little smile on her face."

The two laid on their sides facing one another as Chris told his wife all the details about his quality time with his daughter and Nina hung on his every word. This is how most days ended for the couple, both of them cuddled in bed sharing special moments, funny stories, or feelings from that day.
