"Why won't you tell me where we're going?"
Nina just smiled as she navigated the snowy roads, "That would kind of ruin the whole idea of a surprise."
All he did was groan in playful frustration before relaxing in his seat and petting Sarge who had climbed up from the backseat to sit in his master's lap while Nina drove. Today had just been a normal Friday in December but when Chris had stopped by the coffee shop after work so that he could pickup Nina, he found out that she had something up her sleeve.
So now here he was, sitting in the passenger seat while Nina drove them somewhere unknown but luckily it wasn't too much farther until they finally stopped. Chris looked out, seeing the picturesque scene that laid in front of him.
There was a beautiful cozy looking wood cabin tucked in the trees with snow covering the ground and trees. Nina intently watched his expression of awe before explaining, "I know how much you've been wanting to be around snow and be able to get out and snowboard, and I know work has been kind of stressful lately so I booked us this cabin for the weekend."
She bit at her lower lip, waiting for his response for a long moment before his low voice warmed her heart as he asked, "Did you know that you're the sweetest wife on earth?"
"Well I'm not sure about that," Nina laughed, tucking her short waves behind her ears.
"I am," Chris beamed truthfully, causing her heart to melt a little.
He opened his car door and allowed Sarge to hop out and happily bounce in the snow. Nina got out after him and they unloaded the couple bags Nina brought and trudged through the snow to get inside the cozy cabin. It didn't take long for Chris to change into his snow gear and go out snowboarding with Nina right behind him.
The couple stayed out as long as they could but once it started getting dark, they headed back to the cabin where they got changed and Nina cooked them a delicious dinner. Once it was over, Chris built a fire and then spread a fluffy warm blanket on the floor and tossed a few pillows there before sitting down.
"C'mere, love," He held his thick arms out for her.
Nina happily came over and sat in his lap, letting him engulf her in his embrace while his hands rubbed across her soft cream colored sweater. She melted into him as he kissed his way along her jawline, telling her, "I'm so touched you planned this little getaway for me. I love you so much Nina."
"I know it's just for a long weekend, but I thought it would be a good way for you to relax," Her arms came to hook around his thick shoulders while she tilted her head to give him more access to her neck where he was doting kisses.
"I looked at the weather app and it looks like there's going to be a ton of snow tonight, so much that we probably can't go out tomorrow," Chris informed her.
Hearing this made her pull away enough so she could look at him and Chris could visibly see the disappointment on her face while she said, "Oh no!"
"What's wrong?" He didn't understand.
"I don't want us to get snowed in. The whole idea was coming up here so that you could go snowboarding because I know how much you love it," Nina huffed, hating that her plan was ruined.
Chris gave her a sweet smile, kissing her cheek before telling her, "Babe, I don't care about that. I'm just so happy I get to spend some good quality time with you."
She gave him a soft half hearted smile before Chris' big hands slipped under her sweater and rubbed along her back while his voice was low and husky, "I think that being snowed in this little cabin with you sounds like heaven... and I can think of so many things that we can do..."
