"This looks very cute on you," Chris smiled as he motioned to the string of mismatched brightly colored beads strung together around Nina's neck.
She involuntarily reached up and touched them, grinning widely as the pair walked down the street with their arms linked and told her husband, "Sophie made it for me today... she said she wanted to have something pretty for me to wear on my date with you tonight."
The handsome police officer looked at the ground and shook his head with a grin, "That kid..." He mused. "She's just the sweetest thing... just like her mother."
Nina rested her cheek against Chris' toned bicep as they walked and thought aloud, "I hope all the kids are getting along."
"Are you kidding? With Jack around, he'll make sure they behave. You know, it really isn't a wonder he wants to be a police officer with the way he always is on his brothers," Chris chuckled at their rule following eldest.
"Well and since we told him Janey could come over, he'll be sure to be on his best behavior," She giggled and Chris nodded in agreement.
The cool evening air blew down the street and Chris hugged Nina closer to him as they walked to the restaurant. Earlier that day, Chris had called her and asked if he could take her out for dinner tonight and instantly her heart had fluttered. She loved the way that even after all these years, he still made special time for the two of them but Chris felt like it was easy, because he truly just wanted to spend some quality time with her and loved every second of it. When he got home, he didn't even take time to change out of his uniform.
"Hey," Chris started once they reached the entrance and opened the door for her. "Isn't this the street that you went streaking on?"
Nina's face turned red while Chris laughed and as she walked through the door, she gave his firm chest a soft slap and told him to, "Shut up, Evans."
Even once the host greeted them and walked the couple to their table, Chris was still snickering and when they sat down, Nina playfully glared at him and tried to fight off her smile while telling him, "I'm still really mad I told you that story."
"I'm still so glad you did. I finally got some dirt on my sweet little Nina," He laughed, leaning back in his chair. "I need to get you drunk more often and see what other stories I can get out of you."
Nina crossed her arms in front of her small chest and teased him, "You're just lucky you're in that uniform right now..."
This only made Chris tip his head back and let out his boisterous laughter that echoed in the small restaurant. He unknowingly grabbed the attention of a woman who waited for Nina to go to the bathroom and then made her move.
Chris was on his phone while Nina was in the bathroom, looking at the silly pictures Logan had texted them when a voice asked, "Chris... is that you."
He turned his head and looked at the woman, having to study her face to figure out who it was but eventually got it and asked, "...Melanie?"
