Make It To Me (Chris Evans AU Fic)

The Station

"I know you don't like to be strapped in here," Chris talked to his six month old baby as he put him in the baby carrier and buckled him in. "But I want you to be safe, bud."

Jack's big blue eyes looked up at his father while he chewed on one of the little soft toys he had but then he tilted his head, almost asking his father where they were going so Chris said, "Mommy is out doing errands and is coming to pick you up before my shift but I want to take you and show you off at the station because you are the cutest baby in the world!"

The baby kicked his feet and cooed as Chris leaned in to kiss his chubby little cheeks. He then remembered what Nina said and made sure he had a blanket over him before Chris picked up the carrier and whistled for Sarge. The loyal dog came trotting in and the trio all climbed into the car where Sarge kept watch over the baby until they made it to the police station.

The uniformed officer beamed with pride as he brought in Jack, making his way into the busy room where most of his fellow officers were. Jake was the first to spot them and made his way over and looking at the baby, "Aww did you come to see your Uncle Jake?"

"Just don't tell him your stupid jokes, even a baby cries when he hears them," Chris teased his best friend while giving him a shove.

Jake made a face before Chris unbuckled the straps and lifted Jack up, holding him close to his chest as a few of his fellow officers came over and Chris introduced them saying, "Guys, this is my little guy Jack."

"Wow he looks just like you," One of them chuckled while holding out a finger that Jack took hold of.

"Even has those long eyelashes," Another one piped in before ribbing Chris, "Still not convinced you don't wear fake lashes, bro."

"Don't even make me come beat you up, bro," Chris snickered.

Another one of the officers leaned against the desk while asking Chris, "How's it going with him?"

"Honestly it's been great," Chris was honest, pressing a kiss to the top of Jack's head. "I mean, it's been hard of course, but being a parent is just the fucking best. Like I didn't even have a clue how great it would be but I just love him so much. And Nina is just the most wonderful wife and mother so getting to do this with her just makes it all so much better."

"We're so happy for you," Jake said while patting his back before he tickled Jack's toes, making him coo and kick his feet, "And we sure do love this little guy."

It was a little while longer until Nina came but when she arrived, she found Chris in the middle of a circle of officers. She walked over and they parted, letting her see where Chris was standing behind a table that Jack was sitting on. They had put a little badge on his onesie and a policeman's hat that was much to big for him sat on his head.

Jack's little hands reached up, pulling it off his head and shaking it before bringing it to his mouth and sucked on it, making everyone laugh. Chris took the hat, giving the hat back to the owner before Nina picked up Jack and kissed his sweet face before looking at Chris and asked, "You trying to start him young, huh?"

"Well it's never too early," Chris laughed, leaning in to kiss Jack's head before planting a sweet kiss on Nina's lips. "I mostly just like showing him off to everyone because he's the best baby ever."

All Nina could do was laugh, her eyes squinting up with laughter while she said, "You're too adorable."

"I just speak the truth."
