Like Father, Like Son

"It's not fair," Jack pouted, moaning of the injustice of the third grade judicial system. The little brown haired boy faced a bench trial with the teacher acting as judge and had gotten sent to the principal's office, resulting in Nina having to pick him up from school early.

"Honey, I know it's not," Nina hated to break it to her son while she gently cleaned the cut on his eyebrow after wiping the dried blood that previously had come out of his nose. "But you can't act the way you did, sweetheart."

"I just was so upset!" He told his mother from his seat in the kitchen while she tenderly put a bandaid over his cut and then placed a kiss on top of it.

Nina gave her eldest son a soft smile while she raked a hand through his short hair. She felt like Jack was just Chris is mini form, not only in looks, but in the way he thought and processed things. His strong protective instincts and hatred of injustice and cruelty is what had caused the problem at school today and Nina knew this was going to be something that came up again which is why she wanted to talk to him about this.

"I know you were upset and it's okay to be upset, but it's not okay to react the way you did to the other kids," She tried to remind him gently while pressing a soft kiss on his forehead to remind him of her deep love for him.

Jack propped his little elbows on the table and put his chin in his hands while he muttered, "Dad would have tackled and cuffed them all."

Nina tried to hide her smile, wanting to laugh at his words but knowing she couldn't. She didn't get time to say anything else to him though because they both heard the sound of the door opening and a happy dog barking.

"Hey babe! It's me, I'm home," Chris called out.

"In the kitchen," Her silky smooth voice replied.

She sat in the chair next to Jack but the moment Sarge trotted into the kitchen to get affection from Nina, the young boy hopped off his chair and said, "I'll take Sargey outside!"

"Sargey is fine, you need to sit down and explain to your dad what happened," Nina told him.

Jack sighed, knowing he couldn't avoid this and climbed back in the chair as they both waited for Chris. He had scooped up Sophie on the way since the other boys were still at school and carried her into the kitchen. When he entered, Nina smiled as she saw the toddler in her doting father's muscular arms as he kissed all over her face, making her giggle and squeal.

She took a moment to admire the sweet sight of Sophie's chubby hands on Chris' stubbled cheeks as she laughed and tried to get away from his fervent kisses. Chris was an amazing father and took so much time to individually get to know his kids and spend time with each one, encouraging their personalities but also taught them how important family is and made sure they all took care of one another.

There was something special about him and Sophie though. Their little daughter was the apple of his eye and nothing brought his gentle and tender side out more than she did. He made sure the boys all treated Nina with respect and love and he was going to instil that same mentality in the boys about their little sister, which they already had with the way the boys protected and played with her. Nina could have watched him all day, looking handsome as handsome could be in his navy blue uniform and sexy stubble with the biggest smile on his face as he watched Sophie giggle and give him messy kisses.

Since Chris had gotten off a little early today and it was an unusually warm and sunny Fall day, he thought that maybe he could take Nina and Sophie out for a walk with Sarge and they could go get some ice cream before picking the boys up from school but he was surprised when he found that one of their sons was already here.
