"MOM!" Em heart almost stopped beating. "What are you doing here?"
Her mother was standing in the door with a full smile. She immediately hugged her and gave a kiss to her cheek.
"What is this smell?" her mom asked.
"Shit!" Em ran back to the kitchen, when she realized the lunch may burnt already. She caught the pan from the oven.
"Honey, you should pay more attention." Jenny told her while put her bag down in the hall.
"I did not expect you, mom. What are you doing here?" she turned to her.
"I was in the city. Buying Christmas gifts, and I brought some new decorations for you too." She was searching in her bag.
"You shouldn't have." She was still nervous.
"Honey, I know how you love Christmas." she answered and placed the ornaments to the desk.
"I don't even think I decorate and place a tree. I work until last week before the holidays and I am gonna spend Christmas with you, so..."
"Do not say that. A tree needed." She answered. "You can decorate the tree with Charles. I am sure he'd be happy to come and..."
"I don't think so." she lowered her head.
"Are there anything what you wanna tell me?" Jenny asked her with eyes wide open.
She hesitated. She did not want to tell her mom, how it ended, and why. She would freak out if she get to know.
"We... it ... things did not work between us. We... break up, but my PR agent advice to stay together in public for the holidays, so... things are a little muddy. But we won't meet, I... don't wanna meet with him, and I am sure he doesn't wanna meet with me either." she explained.
"Oh honey" Jenny stood up and walked to her. She hugged her daughter close. "I am sorry. I thought... maybe I can meet him and get to know him at the holidays. Are you sure there is no way back? I mean if you love him there is..."
"But I don't. It ended. Story ended. Okay?" Em took a deep breath. The last thing she needed right now to talk about him.

Jenny looked confused, but she understand Em did not want to talk about this.
"I ... take those to the living room" Jenny grabbed the ornaments from the desk, and walked inside. Em nodded, and she was staring the burnt food in the pan. She was thinking. Maybe she should be honest with her mother, and tell what is going on. Between her and Kit and everything. She always stood next to her, no matter what idiot things she did in the past. She was her mother. The one who she can always count on.

"We should go for a lunch somewhere." Jenny came back to the kitchen. "Of course if you don't have any other ... important things to do."
"I... am not in the mood to going out." she tried to smile.
"But as I see your lunch plans are burnt honey. Or it is because something else? Or someone?" she asked and stared her.
"What?" Em shook her head and frowned.
"It... has something to do with that man shirt in the floor in your living room?" her mother continued.
SHIT. Emilia thought in herself but she couldn't answer.
"I placed it to your bed. Maybe that mysterious man came out easier, if he can put all his dress on." she was smiling.
"Mom. I..."
"Honey you are a grown up women. I know it. One night stands, and hook ups are the part of women life. You are young and beautiful. You should just tell me to ... leave. You do not have to keep secrets from me." Jenny told her and grabbed her bag.
"It is... more complicated." Em sighed. She wanted to tell her, she wanted to tell her everything, she just had no idea how she starts it.
"Why? You cheated Charlie and this is why it ended? Or what happened?"
"Good Morning Jenny." Kit was standing in the kitchen door, fully dressed. Em was staring him, and tried to breath.

A COUPLE MINUTES EARLIER

When Kit heard the approaching steps towards to the bedroom, he almost jumped into the cabinet. He saw through the gap how Emilia's mother placed his shirt to the bed. The bed what was fully messed. It was clear, there were two person who slept ... or did something in that bed. Kit clearly saw her smile. They busted. Or at least Emilia busted, that was obvious.
"If you wanna join us for a coffee, just come out. Or wait till I leave. It will be in a couple minutes." Jenny stated and left the bedroom.
