"Are you really sure it is a good idea?" Emilia was nervous. They were sitting in his car, on their way to his parent's house. Her mom insisted them to do a visit on the weekend, and she wanted him to bring Emilia too.
"My mom loves you" Kit glanced at her, meanwhile he was driving.
"I am not worried about your mom Kit, you know it. Did you even talk with him, since you ran away at Christmas?" Em sighed.
"No. He told me I am not his son anymore, but I won't stay away from my mum. She is mom. I love her." he shrugged his shoulder.
"You don't even worry about him?" Em frowned.
"Emilia." he took her hand "Probably he won't be there. That is why my mom invited us. Finally... we can be a normal couple. Try to enjoy this a bit." he raised her hand and gave a small kiss to it.
"I do." Em smiled. "But you know he hates me."
"He doesn't... "Kit rolled his eyes. "He ... doesn't have a problem with you especially. He has a problem with the world. he doesn't hate you."
"He doesn't hate Rose." Em lowered her head and took a deep breath.
"Yeah, but it is not him who decides who will I marry at the end." Kit was still squeezing her hand.
"You're right." Em leaned back on the seat. "I should just... enjoy this weekend trip. A visit to your mom, then two quiet days in the countryside. Away from everyone." she turned to the window. In total, she did not mind she said yes to him for that visit, but she would like to skip that visit and go straight to Suffolk. Since Kit showed her, that house is just his... and not Rose's... she doesn't mind to spend more time there. Maybe that will really be their common home. With their family. Kids. She glanced at Kit and smiled.
"What?" Kit looked at her for a moment.
"I love you.""Mom?" Kit entered into his parent's house and looked around. "At least he did not change the lock" he smiled at Emilia and took her hand. He felt how edgy she is, she was strained, and he almost had to pull her with himself. "Mom?" Kit yelled again and turned to the direction of the kitchen.
"Kit!" Debby spread her arms to hug him close at the moment when she spotted him. "Oh my god, I have no idea when was the last time I saw you. That is not okay" he squeezed him.
"I know." Kit laughed and kissed her cheek. They were hugging each other for some seconds, and Em couldn't stop smiling about them. It was good to see it. At least his mother supported him. No matter what he did, no matter he was in a rehabilitation center or not. He was just ... her little son. And she clearly loved him. Unconditionally.
"And darling." Debby turned to Emilia and pull her into her arms too. "I am so glad you are here."
"Me too." Em smiled at her. "Although I don't think everyone will be happy with my presence." she had to tell this. She was an honest girl, and she had no reason to lie.
"Do not even care about him." Deborah spat with her arms, then turned back to the oven. "Lunch is ready soon," she stated and she was just staring them. His son, who just smiled next to the woman, who he loved with all his heart. Kit gave a gentle kiss to Emilia's cheek and hugged her close. She placed her arms around his waist.
"I want to see this..." Debby pointed to them "I don't even know... for years by now" she shook her head.
"You will get bored of it, you will see this very often" Kit laughed. "Cuz I don't plan to let her go." he looked at Emilia and she raised her eyes at him.
"Oh, Heaven you are so beautiful together." Debby adored them. "Not to mention, I don't know where you'll be without her," she added, and her face changed. She became more serious.
"Yeah, she is ... good in... keep me in line." Kit nodded.
"But she is not your mother," Deborah answered and shook her head.
"I trust him." Em tried to save him "It won't happen again. There were... those things were too much, even I've got drunk on the first night that I had to spend with Rose. So... I can't blame him." she lowered her head.
"Kit honey please, bring the plates from the living room." Debby looked at Kit and shuffled the food. Kit caressed Emilia's back, then left them there in the kitchen.
"I hope you are not mad at him. Because of that rehabilitation. Or me... I mean it was my idea but..." Emilia sighed and stepped closer.
"You saved my son. Again." Debby looked at her, but Emilia frowned. "You think I don't know? You and Jack saved him for the first time, and now it was just you. And I cannot be grateful enough."
"You don't have to be grateful." Em leaned to the counter. "I just... love him."
"Can I tell you a secret?" Debby started with a smile on her face. "I... never really liked her."
Em giggled and Debby too. All her nervousness and stress just went away that she felt before. She laughed with Kit's mom a lot in the kitchen, and after some minutes Kit joined them too. They were really like a happy and normal family.
