A loud ringtone rang across the room suddenly making Obi jumped into sitting position. She could feel the heat and it was no doubt she was sweating. A nightmare! She tried to recollect what happened but the phone wouldn't give her a chance, so she quickly reached out for it beside the table lamp.

Had it been one of her beautiful mornings, she would have cussed at the caller but right now, she was a little glad the call pulled her out of that scary dream.

A strange number was displayed on the screen and that made her to frown now.

Could it be him? Oh....he finally acknowledged that she called back since last night!

"Hello? " she asked.

"Good morning Obi Kwathar." replied a deep voice which didn't sound like Harrison's. She pulled the curtain back to check if it was really morning only to find the ray of the sun hitting her skin.

"Good morning? "

Her lifted spirit dropped a little. Who the hell is this then?

"This is Makinde Malik."

Obi sat up to rest against the wall as she tried to process the name but came up with nothing. Obviously the stranger at the other end was expecting her to know him. Right?

"Your unit manager."

Oh crap!.... Crap crap crap crap! She had not been to work for a week now and she got so caught up to the extent of forgetting to report to work. Not her fault that she didn't know Malik, just that she rarely see him except during board meetings....and that would be if necessary she needed to be there.

She bit her lower lip not knowing what to say. For this man to call her, she was already in a big mess and her job was at stake!

"I realize you have not been taking your job seriously, you took a french leave of your own and did not even bother to notify the HR."

"I am sorry... I... I was... I am on my way to work right now." she clenched her hand into a fist and groaned silently. It was embarrassing she was giving him incoherent words.

"You know what is going on in the company and yet you try to sabotage my work with your incompetence!"

"I'm very sorry sir. I'm on my way to work right now." since he would say this to her at the office... Why couldn't he wait till then? She got out of bed, her blanket sprawling on the floor after her as she rushed into the bathroom. Her phone to her ear in one hand and the other picking her tooth brush.

"Let this be the very last time you will do this. See you on Monday." the call ended.

What? Did that just happened? She blinked severally as she stared at her phone's screen. He just scolded her and that was all? No one ever ditch work in Klerg and go scotfree. No one. She almost squealed with joy realizing her job was still intact. Just then, a message pop in. A bank alert. She blinked rapidly as strange numbers danced before her eyes. She was paid half salary! She flashed her teeth unbelievably.

Harrison. He took his word seriously. Didn't she tell him she knew nothing about the transfer issues. Half salary?! She has plan on top her full salary and now it has been sabotage by that ruthless man.

Trotting back into her room she hung her head down. first she was happy she still has her job but her salary was not fully paid. Just great.

"Get back here!"

She heard a squeal outside and propped on her knees on the bed to check through the window. There she saw Lola and Nick dragging water hose among themselves, water splashing all over them. The bodyguards stood grimly afar off in their position as if nothing was happening. She watched her best friend laugh heartily as she trampled him down while he tried to block the water lashing his body.
