"You know I can't believe it if you tell me she is not here."
"So? That doesn't mean I'm allowing you into my house. She is not here. Period."
"We both know there's no other place she could be if she's not home."
"Home? You call that home? That place is freaking too quiet for her!"
"I don't know how she convinced George. Obviously, she convinced you too." Nick muttered to himself while Lola glared back at him with arms folded over her chest. She was blocking him in the doorway.
It had been two days Obi left Harrison's mansion. Every media platform were keenly interested in who Harrison Adeleke was getting married to. Some even called her shy following the mall incident. Some judged her bad, some judged her good, some were looking for a point of view and truth be told, her Instagram followers grew but she was not liking each of the passing seconds. She had been bottling everything inside till her self proclaimed fiance show up, till then, she would hold her peace.
It was 7 in the morning when they heard an annoying knock on Lola's door. Obi stayed between the doorway that led to the sitting room, hiding behind the door while she looked as the drama unfolded between Nick and her friend.
"You know it's an offence to abduct someone. Only God knows if you guys are gay....I wonder why then you let me kiss you..." He muttered again.
"What? I can't hear you."
"What?" Obi whispered to herself from where she hid. They kissed? Two days ago, Lola was doing it in the living room with her neighbor. Where did her real best friend go?
"I believe Obi is somewhere inside this house. I am just doubting your friendship at all." he replied easily. "Just tell her to please go home or else, she's going to cause me to run mad."
"what is that supposed to mean? "
"oh... " he chuckled. "I mean she's making me run m... "
"I heard you at first! "
"what? Are you thinking maybe I have something for her? Maybe, something more than the kiss we shared...."
"Gosh! I don't care about what you do and don't you try to play with my mind. Obi is not here, now, get lost because I have so many reasonable things to start today with. " she hissed and Obi heard the door banged.
Few minutes passed for her to make sure Nick was gone. She stepped out of her hiding place to find Lola's eyes glued to the closed door.
She went into the kitchen to bring out a tuber of yam to prepare breakfast, grabbed a knife from the kitchen cabinet and started slicing to peel."Do you want me to ask or you tell me straight away?" she finally broke the tensed air.
Lola breath sagged as she turned around but avoided her eyes.
"Did you sleep..."
"Gosh no! " her reply was fast.
"You think I don't deserve an explanation? After the scene with your neighbor? You know what? It's okay if you don't want to talk about it."
"It's not what you are thinking."
"Lol? "Obi managed a smile. "He deliberately made you think he likes me, want to see you jealous because something emotional happened between you guys. And you don't want me to ask about it? It is fine! I don't know why I'm bothering myself."
"We just kissed. Okay? "
"When? "
"Remember I told you I had a date last weekend? "
