Nikki's POV

Walking into the living room I smile at some point she had migrated to sharing a large pillow on the floor with her dogs. Probably because they all couldn't fit on the couch those two pooches are big motherfuckers. She jerks in her sleep and Poe and Stoker just nuzzle her. Obviously they have dealt with her occasionally seizures. They gently ease her on to her side and her sleep deepens. They haven't left her side since this started. I'm thinking about waking her to see if I can get her to eat when I hear someone come through the front door and I go check it out. I recognize the girl as Cindy the live in.

"Yuck what are you doing?" Is the first thing out of her mouth.

"Taking care of Jenny." I answer.

"She doesn't need you she has me." She glares.

"Then where were you last night when some sleaze was trying to take advantage of her."

"She can take care of herself." She grumps. I give her a dirty look I'm not liking Jenny's girlfriend.

"Then why did I have to pack her home wasted last night." I'm getting pissed.

"Wait you spent the night?" She looks at me suspiciously.

"So what if I did." I smirk. Fuck am I sensing jealousy.

"Back off Sixx she's not yours anymore she's mine." She warns. "Where is she?" If she was a dude I would have punched her.

"In the living room asleep." I answer trying to keep my temper in check. I didn't expect a lover. It's been years though why shouldn't she. It doesn't mean I have to like it.

She takes off in that direction. I follow hoping she doesn't panic Jenny awake. She doesn't get very close to her, when I hear the Mastiffs growl. Cindy stops in her tracks.

"God I hate you both." She whimpers. "If it wouldn't hurt Jenny you two would be in a hole in the backyard." She skirts them and runs to her room. I get down on the floor and stroke the heads of those two brutes.

"I think I love you two." I coo they grunt deeply in response. "What do you think boys does your momma know she has a new girlfriend?" I whisper to them. "Probably not since the annoyance still sleeps downstairs."

I notice Jenny start to stir.

"Hey do you think you can eat something?" I ask softly. I sigh am I really the one to guide her through this. I look into her dark brown eyes can I do the tough love thing with her if I to.

She shakes her head yes. A gesture she instantly regrets.

"It will pass." I promise.

"I know." She answers softly.

"Yeah not your first rodeo is it." I comment as I help her to her feet. It's so easy to slip back in if your not careful. I'm just glad she's still above ground. Once she seated and slowly eating the soup I heated up. She looks at her dogs who have settled at her feet.

"Ah Nikki have they been fed and watered?" She groans.

"Been done." I smile reassuringly.

"Thanks so much." She smiles weakly.

"Hey Jenny who's the girl staying here?" I ask. "You know just out of curiosity."

"Cindy I've known her since I was a teen. Had a crush on her once, but she wasn't interested.
She needed a place to crash in between tours so I let her stay." She answers and shrugs her shoulders.

"That's nice of you." I grin.

I sit on the couch with Jenny. She leans against me I feel her body shake. Her hair is damp with sweat. She had lost what she'd eaten. We would try food again later. I kept pushing water in hopes she would keep it down soon.

"Nikki does your wife know your here?" She asks quietly. "I don't want to cause you trouble."

"She knows I called her told her you were sick and needed help with the kids. She doesn't really care what I do as long it doesn't make her look bad" Just like my Jenny worrying about everyone else.

"I'm sorry Nikki." She says weakly.

"Sorry for what?" I chuckle mine and Donna's train wreck of a marriage is our fault.

"I really thought if I stayed away. You both might find what ever you both had lost and fall in love again." She sighs and her eyes begin to droop. If she can get away for awhile from her misery in sleep. More power to her. I lay her down back with her ever vigilant boys. I brush her hair away and kiss her cheek.

"That was a very romantic notion little one, but life doesn't always turn out that way." I whisper.

Sitting back on the couch I wonder what I should do with myself when the phone rings.

"Hello the Grey's residents. May I ask who's calling?" I answer formally thinking it could be business.

"This is Mountain Meadows Stables. We haven't seen Miss Grey in several months."

"Is this about money?" I ask worried she might be falling behind on bills.

"Oh no she's always on time. It's just not like her not come see Louie once a week and I spoke with her friend from the race track. She likes helping him breeze the two year old horses she hasn't been there either. We are just concerned.

"She's been ill. I'm sure she will be at it again soon." I assure him. We say goodbye and hang up. I guess she still likes a thrill ride.

"Hey Jenny I got something that will make you feel better." Cindy giggles as she enters the room. She stops mid step with a syringe in her hand.

"Shit I thought you'd be gone by now." She groans. I look at her closely this time. She looks sickly dark circles around her eyes and she's boney.

"I think you need leave, leave now before I forget your gender!" I growl. She pockets the needle and runs. I hear the door slam as she bolts.

I don't know why it matters to me, but I need proof. I look her over I hadn't seen any tracks. I try not to wake her as I search. I get to her feet and groan. She's been injecting between her toes to hide it.
