I dragged myself to the office next morning sleeping with my eyes opened. I was tired and sleepy, but my work needed to be done. I was close to be a workaholic, but I would never admit that to anyone else. Plus I had a terrible night sleep. I slept pour hours and the little I had was not good enough. My head was pounding in pain and James was popping up now and then, this reunion devastated me in a dangerous and unexpected manner. When I got to my office Belle was there with a coffee and a muffin waiting for me.
"Tell me it isn't a good thing that I work in the same building?" She said stretching me out the cup of coffee. I smiled genuinely for the first time that morning. "Alex called me last night." She said and my smiled vanished right away.
"What?" I asked her, sitting on my chair. "What did he want?"
"Well, he called me to know if you were with me, I said you were working and he said he called the office and no one answered so I assumed you went to that club to see your rockstar and I told him you were probably working in the meeting room and there was no phone in there and such things. You went there didn't you?" I took a deep breath relieved and leaned my back on the chair. "You are lying to Alex, I never thought you'd do that."
"What did you want me to say? Hey, you know I've found this person I knew when I was a teenager and guess what I spent part of my night with him." Belle opened her eyes wide.
"I knew it." She said.
"Yes, I went there." I told her face palming myself. "I don't know why I did it, but I did."
"Oh my dear, I think you're playing a dangerous game here." Belle said laughing.
"I had such a great time." I told her. Belle got more comfortable in her chair like letting me know she wanted to know every detail. "I laughed so much, I had so much fun, like I haven't had it in years. He stopped making questions about my past you know, so I relaxed."
"He knows who you are Andrea!" She said. "I bet he knows and he's just pretending, that's why I say you guys are playing a dangerous game here. Pretending you don't know each other when you had some sort of history...I don't know..."
"I can handle it." I told her.
"Can you? You're already lying to your boyfriend. Does he have a girlfriend?" She asked.
"I don't know. I didn't ask. I am quite sure he does."
"Oh Jesus..."
"Don't worry Belle, I am not planning on seeing him again, though I made the mistake of giving him my cell number." Belle opened her mouth in surprise. "He texted me at 3 am."
"Oh ...This is weird and dangerous." She commented.
"Last text he asked me when he could see me again."
"See!! I am right! This is not over like you think it is. He's gonna call you again for sure and then I wanna see what you're going to do, and Andrea please open your eyes...He knows who you are, he knows that's why he's getting this close to you again."
"He doesn't know. He would tell me if he did."
"Not if he doesn't want to remember what happened between the two of you. You put him in an uncomfortable situation, and he wants to be past that. I mean come on...he's a guy, he's got his pride."
"Anyway, I didn't answer his last text. I don't want him to think I am free and available to go into whatever is on his mind."
"Can we have lunch later? I have a meeting I need to go now but I want us to talk." Belle said getting up.
