"Is she sleeping?" I asked while I was cleaning the kitchen.

"Yeah...she wanted me to tell her a story. I don't know any." He shrugged, then he began to put the plates in the cabinet as I cleaned them.

"So, how did you solve that problem?" I smiled at him.

"She ended up making questions about how we met and stuff." He explained.

"And you remember all that?" I asked.

"Of course I do. You don't?" He asked me.

"Yeah, I remember first time I saw you... I was sneaking off a class to smoke a cigarette outside and I saw you walking down on the corridor that led to the field. Head down, alone, I just thought you were so cute. Then I began to notice you but still...you were impossible to talk to."

"Brian saved the thing." He laughed.

"And I've known him since kinder garden maybe. I didn't have a clue he knew you." I said.

"Me neither, until one day I was sat watching you and he came up and said "wanna come to the beach?" and I told him no but then he said that you were going to be there, and I changed my mind, that's when I learned he knew you."

"So you knew you were going to meet me that afternoon!" I exclaimed.

"Yeah..." He said and then laughed. "I rehearsed a thousand ways of saying hello to you."

"And then you said nothing." I said throwing him the towel I had in my hands. He caught it and put it on the counter.

"I used to watch you from far you were even prettier closer, I was a shy kid..."

"Shy? You didn't even look at people's eyes!"

"Yeah...glad I am out of there too. Look, I am going for a shower, I am all sticky." He said.

"Ok, I'll meet you in bed. I need to finish this." James went up and soon I heard the water in our bathroom running, I finished cleaning the kitchen and only then I joined him upstairs. The door of the bathroom was still closed and the bedroom empty, so I met him there. I found him naked, cleaning his body.

"James, we need to talk about another thing." I said as I got in, making him almost jump with my sudden appearance.

"What?" He asked walking around the bathroom naked. I sat on the toilet.

"I didn't want to talk in front of her and she was with us all the time, but I talked to the doctor about the transplant..." I began

"And..." He said while brushing his hair.

"And he says it may take years to find a donor and that some kids die waiting for one. I don't want that...I don't want that for Sarah..." He put the brush down and turned around to look at me.

"Does that mean?"

"It means that if you tell me that you're ready for it then I want to do it because last thing I want is to lose her or take that risk. At least we try all possibilities." He walked up to me and crouched, his lips curving in a soft smile.

"So, I don't have to get you drunk and stoned?" He joked making me laugh.

"No, silly." I said running my hand over his face.

"Is there anything that we need to do?" He asked.

"I called my gynecologist this afternoon and we talked on the phone for a while, she said that since I had been to her office not long ago and my exams are quite recent that I just have to drop the pills and practice." James grinned.
