Monday...

I woke with my heart squeezing inside my chest. James was sleeping peacefully but my heart ached for him somehow as Alex would take Sarah out. I knew it would be so hard for him and I hated to cause him that anguish.

"I am so sorry babe." I whispered taking his hair away from his face. I refrained from kissing him so I wouldn't wake him up. Mondays morning he didn't work so I slid out of bed and decided to check on our girl and leave him sleeping. I found Sarah staring at her image in the mirror, I had never seen her like that, so I stayed quietly watching her. She stood there for quite some time, turning from one side to another, approaching her face to it and seeing it closer. "What are you doing?" I asked her finally coming inside the room.

"Nothing." She said looking back at me.

"It's a bit late, you better get dressed, soon Alex is going to be here." I told her. I saw her looking at the mirror one more time and then took a deep breath, turning her back at it. She quietly began to choose her clothes and I left her alone. In the kitchen I made cereal's for two and soon she met me there.

"Is James still sleeping?" She asked.

"Yes." I said.

"No...I am right here." He said coming in with his eyes still swollen. He gave each a kiss and then shrugging poured some milk on a bowl and had cereals too. He watched Sarah for a few seconds and then dropped his eyes on the bowl and breakfast was especially silent and I didn't like that.

"I am going upstairs." Sarah said when she was done. I got up and surrounded his neck with my arms leaning against his back.

"What's the matter?" I asked in his ear.

"You know..." He said rather sad.

"I have an idea. Since we're alone we could go to San Rafael and look at some real estates, what do you say?"

"Really?" He asked grabbing my hand and making me walk around him.

"Yeah...Her school starts in a month; I think we should look around." I was excited with the idea and most of all I wanted to divert his mind from Sarah and still be happy.

"Great idea. We can have lunch there and then I leave home and go to the studio." His voice changed to a happy tone and that pleased me much. We heard a car parking outside, and our smile vanished. I peeked at the window and Alex was there. We heard Sarah's footsteps as she came down and then she appeared at the kitchen's door.

"Alex is here." She informed us but there was not much excitement in her voice, I expected her to be happier about it. James got up to go with me outside, I knew he wanted to show he was around.

"Ok have fun." I said holding her and kissing her.

"Have fun kid." James ruffled her hair and kissed her cheek.

"What are you guys going to do?" She asked before leaving.

"We're going to San Rafael and have lunch there." I said. Sarah pouted a little and there I felt her divided but she then she looked at Alex and began to walk towards him. James grabbed my hand while we watched her going.

"This is hard." He whispered to me and I squeezed his hand a little in support, then Sarah looked back and ran to him. James crouched in front of her and she clutched her little arms around his neck, holding him close and James pulled her close to him too.

"I love you." She said kissing his cheek and then beginning her way to Alex again. Before getting in the car she waved and then we stayed there watching the van disappearing. Then I looked at him.
