"So, how long have you known him?" Alex asked me as we closed the door of our room. I was not in the mood for that conversation.
"Do you really want to do this now?" I turned around to meet his eyes. Alex's green eyes sparkled meeting mine and he nodded.
"I know something is going on. I don't know what it is, but I know it's related to him. So, Andrea...I think I deserve your honesty. How long have you known him? What's going on between you two?"
"That's two questions already." I said sitting on the chair. Alex sat on the edge of our bed and rubbed his hands on his legs.
"I have all night." He said facing me again.
I shrugged. "I don't know when I met him, I guess it was on the same day Belle met Lars." I said remembering the lunch at the Japanese.
"You're lying Andrea. You know him before that." He defied me.
"What are you trying to do? Pick up a fight at fucking midnight Alex?" I told him already with my blood boiling.
"I just want the truth. He is that James you were talking on the phone the other time and then exchanging texts during the weekend, why are you lying? What does he mean to you?" I remained silent as Alex pointed out the truth. I wanted to tell him everything but at the same time I was afraid. I didn't want to hurt him, something inside me was forbidding me from doing it but Alex deserved more.
"Yes, he was that James." I confessed resting my hands on my waist as I put my guards down. Alex got up and went towards the closet taking a pair of jeans and a shirt off it and putting it on a back bag. "What are you doing?" I asked grabbing his arm, but he jerked me away.
"Leave me alone. I need to be alone, so I'll sleep on a fucking hotel tonight. I don't think you need to tell me anything else." He almost yelled walking to the bathroom.
"Yes I do." I told him running after him. "There is another thing you need to know." Alex grabbed his razorblade and toothbrush and looked at me. "He is Sarah's father." I said. "But he doesn't know about it..." I whispered. Alex frowned and shook his head.
"You've known him for that long?" He said incredulous. "Do I even know you?" He yelled losing his patience.
"Alex wait." I told him grabbing his shirt but again he jerked me away.
"I am out of here. I don't want to hear no more. I need to go, we'll talk tomorrow." He said grabbing his backpack and slamming the door behind him. I sat on the bed feeling a bit sad, I thought I was going to cry, stayed still but then not even a tear came out.
"I can't believe this..." I sighed regretting the fact I had told Alex James was Sarah's father. "I shouldn't have told me him anything." I reprimanded myself. I rubbed my face on my hands and went downstairs to brew some tea. While I put the water on the kettle I grabbed my cell and texted a simple "I love you" to James. He once told me that I could send as many texts as I wanted because his girlfriend wouldn't look at his cell, so I really needed to tell him that at that moment. My cell vibrated right after and I ran to see his answer.
"I am a free man." He said. My heart raced anticipating what those words meant and then the cell vibrated again in my hand, another text from him. "And I love you too, I always have." I texted him asking if I could call him, since I was too curious to know what he really meant by that but instead of answering me he called me.
"Hi." I said picking up the call at the first ring.
"I am at my apartment. I broke up with her." He said right away.
"Really?" I asked him, smiling. All of a sudden I forgot all the problems I was having, and the world was a wonderful place.
"I am free for you Andrea." He sighed. Somehow I heard fear and insecurity in his words.
