James began to plant kisses on my cheek, and I smiled feeling his soft lips caressing my skin. "I miss you so much." He said again. "I am sorry I have to leave you alone." I pulled him closer to me and brought my lips to his ear.
"I understand." I whispered. I felt like I needed to put a rest to his heart. James shivered and then pulled away to look at me.
"Let's go inside, it's cold." He said rubbing his arms. I nodded and grabbed his hand to pull him with me. I locked the door as we got in and then turned to him.
"Are you hungry? Did you have dinner?"
"Yeah...we ordered some pizza. Let's just go to bed." He said. I put my eyes on the floor as I heard these words and James sighed. "You can bring the catalog with you and we take a look at the rings in bed." He said.
"It's ok if you don't want to do it." I said.
"No Andrea...don't put things like that." He begged, grabbing both my arms with his hands and shaking me a bit. "I am just tired."
"Because of that, if you don't want to look at it now, I understand." I said getting rid of his grip and beginning to climb the stairs. I heard James talking to himself, but I didn't understand a word. Soon the door of the bedroom opened, and he got in with the catalog in his hands. He threw it on the bed, near me and rested his hands on his waist looking at me.
"You can be so stubborn sometimes. I said I wouldn't mind doing this here in our bed, because I am tired and all I can think of is lay down and you come up here all grumpy and playing the victim. I never said I didn't want to do it." James was annoyed, I could see that by his tone.
"I don't want to pick up a fight with you this late. I am also tired..." I said. He bit his lower lip looking to his right side and then he looked back at me and I felt his tensed body relax, his shoulders got down a bit and he crouched in front of me.
"I know you've been doing this all alone and I know you must feel awful about that."
I stayed still looking at his eyes for a while, thinking about the conversation I have had with Belle that morning and that was the perfect chance to tell him the truth because he was the one admitting it. "I do feel bad about that." I told him and he gulped a bit and closed his eyes as if my words were a knife and I had just stabbed him. "I am doing all by myself and then when you come home you're tired and you don't want to talk about this, which I understand but it's our wedding..."
"...and I should be more involved." He finished my sentence.
"Yes!" I agreed.
"I know all that Andrea; look I will try. Don't think this is me trying to get away of my responsibilities, it is not. I am just trying to adjust my life ok?"
"So, you don't mind looking at these in bed?" I asked grabbing the catalog. James shot me a sweet smile and shook his head.
"No..." He said in a whisper. "Let me just change and go to the bathroom." I did as he asked. I sat on the bed with the blankets covering my legs and took another look at the rings I had marked before he came back. He joined me a couple of minutes later and sat by my side, taking the catalog off my hands and beginning to look at it.
"These ones marked are the ones you liked?" He asked and I nodded. Then James stopped, staring at a platinum flat ring with a tiny trace of gold in the middle. That one was also marked by me and secretly it was my favorite. I could picture it in our fingers, it would look perfect. He continued looking at it and my heart began to race; I wanted the other one, but I didn't want to push anything. After looking at the whole book and put it down on his legs and looked at me.
