When I left the office I went straight to the supermarket to buy some stuff for dinner. I bought a piece of filet mignon to rust in the oven with potatoes and bought some vegetables to make a salad. Also bought a bottle of wine and some juice for Sarah.
"Ok...straight to the shower lady." I told her when we got home. While Sarah ran upstairs, I put the bags in the kitchen and then joined her. "You can put your pajama sweetie." I told her but she just gave me a weird look.
"Mom, James is coming for dinner and you're telling me to put on my pajama!" She said indignant.
"Fine, put some trainers then, something." I said slapping her little ass.
"No, I want to look pretty." She complained. I looked at her. "Oh mom, he's just so cute." She said with her eyes glittering and smiling.
"You think?" I asked pulling her to my lap as I sat on her bed. Sarah nodded.
"And he's funny." She added.
"So, I can date him?" I joked.
"I think so." She said rather serious making me laugh loud, then I kissed her cheek and pinched her nose.
"Have a shower now." I told her. Sarah ran to her bathroom and I headed back to the kitchen. I prepared the food and out it on the oven, then I put the rest of the shopping in the cabinet and Sarah appeared at the door.
"I am ready." She said spinning around so I could see her outfit. She chose white pants with a blue shirt; her hair was loose and already brushed.
"You look gorgeous, now go watch some TV while I take a shower, James must be here at any minute." Sarah ran to the window and peeked outside. "Not just yet." I told her smiling. She was anxious. I saw her turning on the TV and sit on the couch and then I went to my room and prepared a shower. I didn't take long and I opted to dress something simple, so I slid into faded blue jeans and a white strapless top. Like Sarah I let my blond hair fall down my shoulders brushed but still wet, then I came back downstairs.
"You look pretty mommy." Sarah said smiling.
"Do you wanna help me with the table?" I asked her and she got up promptly, putting the plates on it as I was passing them to her. When we were done I went back to the kitchen to get the rest prepared. Soon, I heard the rang of the doorbell and Sarah ran to the door.
"James's here mom." She yelled. I could tell she was really enthusiastic with the idea and she was anxious for him to arrive. As she was at the door to receive him I remained in the kitchen doing the salad. As I heard her greeting him my heart raced a bit and I shivered, then I heard their steps towards me. "Mom..." Sarah called me pulling James by his hand.
"Hi." I told him cleaning my hands.
"Hey." He smiled and Sarah looked at us both in silence.
"Dinner is not ready yet, but you can go to the living room. Sarah show James around the house, come on." I instructed her.
"Come James." She said grabbing his hand again and pushing him, before he crossed the door he looked at me and winked, I wanted to kiss him, but it was awkward, even though Sarah has seen her kiss at lunch time, I didn't feel at ease with that.
"Do you need help?" James asked me from the door.
"Where is she?" I asked him, walking up to him.
"Went to her room to pick up her drawings, she wants me to see it."
"Oh.." I said literally jumping on him. I put my arms around his neck and kissed his lips.
"That feels nice." He smiled.
