"Mom!! Mom!!" Sarah called me as if the world was coming to an end. It was morning and I was getting her lunch ready for school. I left everything on the counter and went running to the living room. She was watching Tyler, so I thought maybe something had happened, but the second I got there I saw Tyler sleeping peacefully and Sarah pointed at the TV. "Dad is on MTV mom!" She said with a smile and all enthusiastic. I sat by her side and turned the volume a bit up so we could listen. James was somewhere in Germany and was going to play an important festival that night.
"Yeah, we're ready for tonight. This is probably one of the biggest festival in the country and we're ready to kick some ass." He said. Sarah took her hands to her mouth surprised with his final words and I smiled. There he was being the badass Metallica front man.
"How is it like to come on tour now that you have two children?" The girl asked him, and he paused a bit before he answered.
"Well...It's not easy to be away, but I get to talk with my daughter on the phone every day. Tyler is just a month old so he can't talk yet." He laughed.
"Dad is so silly sometimes." Sarah laughed. "Of course Tyler can't talk."
"Did something changed for you when you go on stage now? I mean, is there a fear that they don't like the music you do?"
"Well, like I said, Tyler is just a new born baby, so one can't tell but I am quite sure he's gonna be into metal, because he rocks us all night long..." More laughter, him and us in the house. "Sarah, that's my girl,. she likes us. She's into rock music a lot. I got her into Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and she's very fond of it and shows a lot of interest in music and knowing more. She's been to one of our shows and she was ecstatic, which made me very proud."
"Dad is talking about me." Sarah turned to me with her eyes wide open.
"Of course he is." I smiled ruffling her hair, and I noticed how James changed when he talked about the kids, how he turned from the bad ass guy to the fatherly one. I could see the glitter in his eyes and his pride in saying his daughter liked the same music he did.
"Does your daughter show any interest in following your steps?" The interviewer asked him. James opened a smile.
"She asked me to teach her how to play the guitar, I have been doing that bit by bit. I don't know if she's going to be a musician, it's too early to tell. She's free to choose whatever she wants, whatever she feels comfortable with, but she's very artistic. Her drawings are amazing, and she loves to do it. She spends a lot of time at home doing so and she draws anything, but she's very talented. She loves to dance, more than anything, I think, so I think she's gonna go with that, because that's where her passion is."
"Is she good with the guitar?"
"She learns fast." He said.
"Sarah, we're running late." I exclaimed looking at the watch.
"Mom, I wanna see the rest of the interview!" She complained.
"We can't sweetie, you're already late for your first class and I am getting late too. Later you'll talk to dad on the phone, now let's go." I said getting up. "Let's go." I insisted and pouting a bit she stood and turned the TV off.
I drove a little bit faster than I should with my kids in the car, but I didn't have any choice. After leaving Sarah at the door of her school and making sure she got in safe, I headed to the university. I left Tyler in the nursery and left running to my class. Everyone was inside and already sat.
"I am sorry I'm late." I told the class putting my books on the desk, then I began the class with no further explanations. When class was over I went to my office to prepare a few papers for next day, but I was interrupted by Corey's presence.
