Millie knew that something had changed in the relationship between her and Finn. It was obvious that there was a strain between the two.
Nothing major had happened to cause a change, there wasn't a huge fight, there wasn't an event that caused tension between the two, there was genuinely no apparent reason why there would be such a strain between the couple.
It just, to Millie, felt like Finn had fallen out of love with her.
She had heard of many stories when people in love fell out. It was neither of their faults, but it just happened.
Yet knowing that no one was to blame didn't cause the ache in her heart to lessen.
Millie had realized they had fallen into a tense schedule, an unhealthy one: Millie would awake with no one by her side, they would attend any press conferences or red carpet events together- smiling and "looking adorable", but little did anyone know- and then head home after the long and tiring day, with Finn laying beside her in their shared bed... only for that process to repeat.
And as the three most devoting words fell from her cherry flavoured lips, she was only replied to with an awkward smile. and as she woke up from a comfortable slumber, and realised that yet again he had abandoned her in the midst of the night, she knew he no longer loved her the way he claimed he did.
And with a heavy heart, Millie decided then and there she had to confront Finn before her ache grew.
So she waited, and waited. It wasn't until the sun had slipped beneath the skyline that he returned from his voyeur of the day.
Millie had almost fallen asleep at that point; curled up on the couch with her tea long cold and her book had slid down from her spot on the couch.
She awoke to the soft sound of the door unlocking and Finn slipping in. She lifted her head from the pillow on the couch to meet eyes with his. His were dull and no longer filled with the passion they once held when peering at her.
"H-Hi." his tired voice seemed to echo in Millie's ears.
"Hey."
"W-What's up?" he asks, tense and shaky.
"I just wanted to talk to you."
"About what?"
"Us," she pauses to take a deep breath. "I just feel like something changed between us. Like you don't... feel the same."
Finn doesn't reply, running a hand through his curly hair; a habit Millie knew occurred when he was nervous.
"It's okay if you don't, Finn. I just want you to be honest with me."
"I'm sorry." he whispers, voice broken.
Millie wanted nothing more than to run and embrace him, run her hands through his messy hair, tell him that everything would be okay. But in the situation, with his two word confirmation, she decided not to.
"Don't be." she replies, tears building up in her chocolate eyes. She ran her tongue over her cherry flavored lips, wishing she could plant them on his once again.
She stood from the couch and took the wavering steps towards the man. She stopped in front of him, a newfound distance between the two that had never occurred before.
"I'm sorry I didn't love can't love you the way you love me." he whispers, and Mille reaches to place a gentle yet hesitant hand on his cheek.
"I'm sorry too. But it was great while it lasted."
He nodded, tears sparkling in his eyes. He was heartbroken to let her go. While he couldn't love her the way she loved him, he loved her for who she was, and the way she loved him. He didn't want to let go because a part of him was still trying to love her. But he was no longer a naive kid, he knew that holding onto her when he didn't love her the same way would only worsen the blow.
"I'll never forget what we had."
"I'm sorry I couldn't be enough." she whispers, retracting her hand slowly.
"You were always enough."

that hurt but if anyone has ever had an experience similar; please know that it is not your fault!! people fall out of love all the time, it doesn't mean your relationship was wrong or not filled with love from the start, people just grow and change and sometimes their love for another changes or falls apart as they change. so please if this or something similar ever happens to you please know it's not anyone's fault, but it is not the end of the world because life moves on and you will get better and you will find happiness and love with yourself.
so i hope you enjoyed this imagine and i love you all 💙💙
