"I can't keep doing this, Finn!" Millie blurts, sliding out of Finn's arms. Finn's features are soon flushed with confusion; they were just watching a movie together while cuddling, and now all of a sudden she was yelling at him.

"Can't keep doing what, baby?" He asks, gently reaching for her hand. His heart cracks when she pulls away from him.

"This! Us! I can't be with you if all you ever do is leave when things get tough!"

"What do you mean, baby?"

Millie lets out a shaky breath, rubbing a hand over her face.

"I love you, Finn. But every time that it seems like we're getting closer and maybe we'll officially be together, you run away! Why? Am I not good enough for you?"

"No! It's just..." He trails off, words failing to come out of his mouth.

"You know what? I'm done. I'm done with putting all of my feelings, all of my love, all of my vulnerability put on the table, and you just knocking it away as if it means nothing to you! I put up with it because I thought maybe there was a reason. Maybe you were as scared as I was. But it has been two years! Two god damn years, and yet you remain to push me away when you don't need me anymore."

Finn looks up at the girl he had deep feelings for, and feels his eyes prick with tears.

"Baby, I value you so much."

Millie scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest. The movie there were watching was long forgotten by the unofficial couple.

They had been dancing around each other for nearly three years now. Two years ago, they kissed, both sober, both consenting. Yet weeks went by and they didn't do anything. So they became an unofficial couple, flirting yet never really committing. At first, Millie was fine with that. However, when a stupid dancing fling lasts two years and feelings haven't been confessed, it's rational for someone to be pissed that it hasn't moved anywhere.

"Really? Because sometimes it doesn't seem that way. You only call me around when you need me, but what, when I'm not at your full use, I'm just not worth your time?" Her tone is cold, startling Finn, for he was used to her soft and melodic voice.

"Of course you're worth my time! I'm just not ready to commit!"

"Are you fucking serious?"

Finn slightly winces at her words. Millie was never one to use such harsh language, it just wasn't her.

"Two. Fucking. Years. Two fucking years we've been doing this little dance where we flirt, and then avoid each other, over and over and over. I am sick of it! If you can't commit after two years of what it is we have going on, I can't keep doing this." Millie takes a deep breath before continuing.

"And it fucking sucks that I happen to fall in love with you of all people. Mr. Finn Wolfhard, the guy who will mess with your feelings but never commit. I understand it's hard. But after two years, you'd think it would be easier."

Tears fall from both of their eyes, they had arguments, sure, but this was the worst one.

Finn loved Millie. He truly did, and it scared him how much love he had for her. So he pushed her away in hopes that he wouldn't have his heart broken again.

But this time, he felt that he had pushed too hard.

"Millie, I'm so sorry."

"Right. I'm sorry too. I'm sorry you couldn't relate, and now you've lost whatever it is that we could have had."

Finn looks down at his hands, clenching his fists in anger at himself.

A tense silence falls over the pair, both lost in their thoughts.

Millie wanted their little thing to work out. She wanted to call him hers, and to be like any other couple in love. She wanted to eventually get married, live a happy life, just be like normal people. All around her, that's what happened, it would make sense for her to have that happy ending too, right?

But that ending seemed to skip over Millie. She loved Finn, from the bottom of her heart. Yet the stabs in the heart were too painful when she remembered that it wasn't an actual relationship between the two. She couldn't keep putting herself through the heartache just to have the illusion of loving someone and being loved back.

"I'm sorry." Finn repeats, his cheeks red and stained with tears, fresh ones coating the imprints.

"I know. But sorry can't fix this." She says, her voice calmer, but still broken.

He only nods, his eyes filled with hot tears.

"I really do love you, Millie." He whispers, afraid that if he raised it even higher, both of them would break.

"And I really do love you, Finn."

"Maybe we just met each other as the right people at the wrong time."

"Maybe. Thank you for everything, Finn. I... I'll be leaving now."

"Yeah.." He whispers, wiping his tears with the sleeve of his sweater.

And then she was gone, out of the door and out of his life.
