It's my birthday yayyy ☺️🎉

"You idiot!" Mike yells, doubling back in laughter. Dustin picks up a napkin and hurriedly shoves it in his nose. Jane holds the side of her stomach, tears beginning to spill from her eyes.

Will bangs his fists on the tables, while Dustin pants heavily. "This isn't funny!" He groans, and Mike falls off his chair.

Jane smacks her head against the table, her face growing beet red. Will coughs, trying to compose himself, unlike his other friends who seemed like seals barking.

"I-I didn't think you'd actually do it!" Mike choked out between fits of laughter, grinning gratefully at Jane, who helps him up.

Dustin scowls, taking the napkin out and throwing it away. He walks hurriedly to Will's bathroom, shoulders slumped. Mike glances briefly at his best friend, Jane, before they both break into a small fit of giggles. "Shut up, assholes!" Dustin groans from the bathroom.

He returns only a few minutes later, and glares at the chocolate milkshake he had been forced to suck in through his nose.

Jane sighs, wiping the tears off her face. She glances at Mike, and her eyes sparkle with adoration.

Will smirks, an idea popping in his head. "Hey Mike," He starts, as Mike turns to Will with a beet red face. "I dare you to kiss Jane." Mike freezes, the smile falling from his face.

Jane notices the sudden change of expression, and drops her gaze to her lap awkwardly. She hated being in love with her best friend. It hurt because she knew he would only see her as a friend.

"What?" Mike sputters, glancing frantically at Jane, who only shrugs, her eyes trained anywhere but her long time crush.

"You heard me. Kiss her on the lips. 10 dollars." Will smugly states, and Dustin glances at Will, a knowing look on his face. Dustin clears his throat, and turns his gaze away from Will.

Mike turns to Jane, who finally turns her gaze away from her lap. 'You okay with this?' He mouths, and Jane weakly nods.

Mike gulps, before cupping her face gently, and pressing his lips softly against hers. She leans slightly closer to him, her hands trailing slowly up to his chest. She lightly tugs on the navy blue material, and his hand hovers her waist.

Dustin wolf-whistles, and Will snickers into his hand. Mike pulls away slowly, almost hesitantly, before turning back to Will. "10 dollars." He demands, his cheeks still lightly pink.

Will eagerly pulls the 10 dollar bill from his jacket pocket, and slaps it on the table in front of Mike, grinning broadly.

"I'll bet you that you two would be glad to do it again for nothing." Dustin laughs, and Will nods goofily.

"Shut up." Jane mumbles.

"What film do you want to watch?" Jane asks, searching through the VHS tapes, each with their individual labels. Mike looks over at his friend, an easy smile growing on his face.

"Star Wars?" Mike suggests, and Jane chuckles. She pulls the tape out of the shelf, and places it in the VCR deck.

Mike pours the popcorn into the glass bowl, and carries it to the brown couch. Mike sits down, placing the bowl next to him, before gesturing to Jane.

Jane smiles softly, and sits down next him, placing the blanket over the two.

She presses play on the old remote, and the movie loads before playing.

Jane rests her head gently upon his shoulder, and closes her eyes. Mike sighs, wrapping an arm around her, pulling her closer to his body.

That's what friends do, right?

Jane stares longingly at Mike, who talks to Max. He tugs at the bottom of her sweater, making her blush a bright red. She clenches her fists, holding onto her last of restraints.

"This is pathetic." Will states to Dustin, who nods sympathetically. They stare at their best friend, clearly whipped by a certain curly haired boy.

"I know. Max doesn't like him." She replies, her eyes still daggers towards the boy who played with her feelings. She knew she shouldn't have hoped he returned her feelings, why would he?

"No. We mean you." Dustin says, making Jane turn to the two boys quickly.

"What?" She snaps, her eyes narrow but tinged with confusion. He was the one that was acting pathetic; flirting with her and then moving on as soon as she plays a little bit of 'hard-to-get'.

"If you like him so much, tell him! He obviously likes you back!" Will flails his arms frustrated. He had shipped the two since grade school, but they both were so oblivious to each other's feelings. It made him angry!

"He doesn't." She mumbles, and Dustin rolls his eyes.

"Well, he's coming over so, whatever you feel better be decided." Dustin adds, gesturing to the approaching curly haired boy, with a light grin on his face.

Jane turns in her seat, and walks quickly away, holding back frustrated tears. How dare he smile around some other girl?

"Jane!" A voice calls out, and she walks faster, automatically recognizing the voice.

Mike rushes to her, and grabs her arm tightly, limiting her squirms against the grip.

"What's wrong, Jane?" He asks, concern traced upon each of his features that made her legs jelly. But, her being as petty as she may be, tears her eyes from him.

"You're so dumb." She whispers, and he furrows his dark brown eyebrows. "What did I do?" He asks, awkwardly chuckling.

She feels tears prick her soft brown eyes. She looks back at him, his face softening at the sight of her glassy eyes.

"You play with my feelings! I thought you may like me back, but as soon as I tease you just a bit you move on to the next girl in your little line!" She blurts, pulling harshly away from him.

"I hate you." She states coldly, before punching him in his stomach. He groans in pain, but clutches her wrists.

"I hate you so much!" She yells, and he grabs her back, pulling her body against his. Her head falls onto his chest, and she drops her fists, crying lightly.

"Jane, I love you." He whispers, stroking her hair gently. "I've always loved you, since we were kids. But I never thought in a million years that you would ever see me that way. So I tried to make you jealous, just to be sure. I am so sorry for causing you any pain." He continues, and her eyes widen into his navy blue sweater.

"I love you too." She mumbles, wiping her tears.

"Good. I thought for a second that you actually hated me." He chuckles, and she giggles lightly into his embrace. This felt right. It always felt right being around him, but this felt better. Being held in his arms, being told that he loves her.

"I could never hate you."
