Malar heard Vetri's voice in the distant calling out to her. A while later, she hears the sound again but this time, it was much louder. Malar opens her eyes to see a silhouette. She rubs her eyes and slowly gets used to the light around her.

Vetri was kneeling on the floor, right next to the bed. He had a big smile on his face. Malar sits up and looks around. The entire room was filled with balloons and each balloon had a picture attached to it. Malar looks at Vetri who speaks.

Malar is shocked for a moment before she smiles. Vetri gives her a rose and Malar takes it from him.


Malar: Thank you Mama

Vetri: Get ready fast! We have a long day today.


Malar goes to the cupboard and opens it. There was a box right in front and she picks it up. Just then,


Vetri: That is your second birthday gift. I hope you like it.


Malar opens it up and sees a beautiful saree.


Malar: It is beautiful Mama. Your selection will never go wrong.

She then proceeds to shower and changes into the saree. She comes out and gets ready and goes in front of Vetri.


Malar: How is it Mama?

Vetri: Must you even ask? You look like an angel.


Malar extends the kungumam box to Vetri. He then proceeds to fill her hairline.

Malar and Vetri proceed out and Malar gets blessings from the elders. Vetri then tells her that they would be going out. He then gets the car key from Naatarasan and walks out with Malar. As they walk towards the car, Malar holds on to Vetri's hand.

Malar: Mama, do we have to go by the car?

Vetri: Of course. Why do you ask?

Malar: Can we go on the bike? Please!

Vetri: No Malar

Malar: Mama, please!


Vetri takes a deep breath.


Vetri: Okay! Just this time only.


Vetri goes back in and takes his bike key. He then starts the bike and Malar sits behind. She then holds him and the two of them head off to the next destination.


Unnodu naan sera (To unite with you)

Thinanae maan sooru, Naendhuthaan samikku vittenae velladu (I have offered various prayers to God)


The two of them head to Malar's favourite temple and pray to the Goddess. After prayers, Vetri stands in the queue to get Malar's favourite Sakkarai Pongal and the two of them sit down at the temple for a while.


Malar: Mama, this has to be the best birthday.

Vetri: But we just started.

Malar: As long as I am with you, birthdays are complete even with simple celebrations.


Vetri smiles.

After visiting the temple, Vetri brings Malar to Rasadurai's home where Malar gets blessings from the elders. After having food that Malar's mother had cooked, the two of them head home. On the journey home, Malar leans on Vetri's back and the two of them talk.

When they reach home, Vetri goes with Malar to their room. Malar sits on the bed and extends her hand out to Vetri who holds it. She gestures him to sit and guides his hand to her belly. At that very moment, the two of them feel a kick.

Malar and Vetri smile. This year, Malar's birthday was extra special because they were no longer two but now they were three.
