Vetri was pacing around the balcony with a book in his hand. Although he was supposed to be reading, his mind was wandering. His thoughts were all about that girl.

A few days ago, Vetri had been woken up hearing sounds from the hall. He looked at the time and saw that it was 7am. He walked out of his room and had seen his parents, Appuchi, his sister and brother-in-law gathered at the hall.

Vetri: Enna aachu ma? Ellarum kaalaiyilayae inga koodi irukeenga?

Anbukarasi: Onnum illa da. Po, poi kulichittu vaa.

Vetri had nodded and turned to leave when he seen a photograph on the table.

Vetri: Yaaroda photo ithu?

Before Anbukarasi could respond, Vetri picked up the photo. For a moment, he forgot to breathe.

It was only when Thangarasu mama tapped his shoulder did Vetri get back to his senses.

Thangarasu: Mama, ippove paiyan flat aayitaan.

Naatarasan smiled.

Vetri: Yaar Mama ithu?

Thangarasu: Unakku ethukku athu?

Vetri: Ada, sollunga Mama

Eshwari: Unakku partha ponnu da

Vetri: Yenna?

Naatarasan: En friend Raasadurai unakku nyabagam irukka Vetri?

Vetri: Chennaila irukkarae. Avara?

Naatarasan: Ama. Avanoda ponnu Malarvizhi thaan ithu.

Vetri glanced at the photo again and stares at Malar's eyes. They were like freshly bloomed flowers, just like her name suggested.

Malar sits up on her bed and glances at the clock. It was 11pm and she was exhausted yet sleep seemed distant. She hugs her knees and thinks about about that guy, with a smile on her face.

It had been a few days since her parents had passed her Vetri's photograph and since then, Malar had been thinking a lot about him. She reaches out to the side table and picks up the photograph again and looks at it. Never did she think that a mere photo would make her smile this much. His eyes had so much of magic.

Vetri flips the pages of his book and takes out the photo. He looks at it again and sees that Malar's eyes spoke a thousand words. He smiles before heading back to his room.

"Ponnu vanthachu..."

Vetri who had been lost in his thoughts, turns and looks in the direction of the sound. Vetri and Malar's eyes meet and automatically, both of them have a smile on their face.

It had been a few months since their respective families had spoken to them about marriage. They had only met once and had immediately clicked. Both Vetri and Malar knew that they wanted each other in their lives and even before Vetri had expressed the same to his parents, Malar had done so without any second thoughts. Today, they were getting engaged.

Malar picks up the ring and smiles. At the beginning of the year, she had no idea that she would fall in love with someone. Merely halfway into the year, here she was, completely in love and soon to be Vetri's fiancé. She looks at Vetri who smiles and extends his hand. Malar puts the ring on Vetri's hand.

Next, Vetri picks up the ring and before Malar could understand anything, Vetri was on his knees, in front of her.

"Kalyanam Panikkalama?"

Malar looks into Vetri's eyes and all she could see was pure love. She smiles and nods her head before extending her hand out. Vetri puts the ring on her finger and everyone starts cheering.

The family come together for a picture. Chairs are put out for the older members of the family (Raasadurai, Indira, Malar's Appatha, Naatarasan, Vetri's Ayya and Anbukarasi) while the younger members of the family (Thangarasu, Eshwari, Pugzhal, Selvi, Akila and Thenmozhi) stand at the back along with Vetri and Malar.

The photographer points out minor adjustments when Pugzhal notices a small distance between Vetri and Malar.

Pugzhal: Malar Anni, ippo thaan engagement aachula. Anna kitta nikkalamae.

Malar looks at Vetri before moving closer. As their shoulders brush, their eyes meet. Their eyes speak a thousand words.

It was only when the photographer calls out to them that the two of them break their eyelock.

As the two of them smile for the camera, along with their families, they both knew that this was the beginning of a whole new journey - one that was full of love.
