Year 2014 -

Vetri had been sitting at the usual spot where his group of friends would meet - the tea kadai. As usual, his friends had been creating a ruckus and had been laughing very loudly. People around them were annoyed but everyone knew that telling these group of boys to quieten down would mean trouble for them and no one wanted to get themselves into trouble early in the morning. Vetri had been drinking his tea when he notices the bus stopping at the bus stop in front of them.

His eyes had been casually noting the people scurrying to board the bus when he saw a young lady getting down with her luggage bag. Unlike the other ladies there, she was wearing a salwar kameez and her hair was let loose. Her hand goes up to her face and she sweeps her loose fringe behind her ear. The lady looks around and her eyes meet Vetri's. For a moment, everything freezes and Vetri's heartbeat quickens.

The lady walks towards him and with every step she takes, Vetri forgets that he was with his group of friends. He stands up and also starts walking towards the lady.

"Yenga, ithuku munnadi nama oruthara oruthar parthirukoma? Ungala engayo partha mathiri irukkae!"

Seeing that there was no response,

"Sorry! En peyar Vetri. Enakku intha oor thaan. Neenga?"

The moment Vetri introduces himself, he notices the lady's eyes light up.

"Vetri, neenga eppothumae ippadi thaana? Naan yaarunu theriyamalae vanthu pesureenga?"

Vetri smiles a little before replying,

"Ippo therinjikalaamnu thaan!"

The lady smiles a little.

" Yaar veetukku vanthirukeenga?"

"Enakku veedu enga irukkunu theriyum, naanae poikuraen!"

"Naanum ippo veetukku thaan poraen, sernthae nadanthu polamae!"

The lady starts walking and Vetri walks along with her. His friends call out to him but Vetri could not hear anything. All he could see and hear was the lady in front of him and her beautiful voice.

It was a one kilometer walk from the busstop into the village and all throughout, silence prevailed. Yet, Vetri had been noticing every small thing about the lady. The way her eyes twinkled, the way she kept tucking her fringe behind her ear, the way her lips curved up beautifully, the dancing jimikkis on her ear. Her eyes seemed to hold some sort of mischief and Vetri had been trying so hard to decode it. It was the first time he was seeing her yet she seemed like he had known her for years.

As they neared the village, Vetri was eager to find out the lady's identity. Vetri's house was the first house and to his surprise, the lady stopped right in front of his house.

"Vazhi theriyuma? Naan venumna sollava? Yaar veetukku vanthirukeenga?"

"Vazhi nallavae theiryum"

" Appo vaanga pogalaam"

"Seri!"

To Vetri's surprise, the lady opens the gate leading to his house and goes in.

"Yenga, ithu yen veedu!"

"Yaar illanu sonna?"

Vetri stares as the lady speaks again.

"Anbukarasi Athai!"

"Naan Malar vanthirukaen!"

The lady turns and winks at Vetri before going in.

*End of Flashback*

"Yenna unna tea kadaiyila parkumbothu vaazhkai poora un kaiyala tea kudikka poreanu konjam kooda nenachu kooda parkala di!"

Vetri chuckles as he teases Malar before drinking the tea she had made for him.
