Vetri was pacing around his room. His eyes were constantly looking at the door, expecting Malar.

Sandhana thendralai jannalgal thandithal nyayama (Is it fair if the windows punish the sandalwood-scented breeze)

Kadhalin kelvikku kangalin bathil enna (What will the eyes answer for the question about love)

Maunamaa maunamaa (Will it be silent)

It was Kaanum Pongal. Ever since Thai Pongal day, Vetri had tried to express his love to Malar. However, something or another would crop up. Therefore, Vetri had written a note for Malar. He had placed it in the cupboard on top of Malar's sarees early in the morning. He knew Malar would have seen the note but she did not mention anything about it.

Anbe endhan kaadhal solla nodi ondru pothumae (Oh dear, to propose my love, a second would be enough)

Athai naanum meipikkathanae oru aayul vendumae (To materialize it though, I would need a lifetime)

In fact, Malar had not even looked at his face the whole day. Vetri had no idea whether Malar was unhappy or upset or hurt by his actions and more than anything, he started feeling guilty. He had tried to find a moment to speak to her but with the family at home, it was getting increasingly difficult.

Illai illai solla oru kanam podhum (To say No, a second is enough)

Illai endra sollai thaanguvadhenraal (To bear a No from you)

Innum innum enakkor jenmam vaendum (I will need one more lifetime)

Enna solla pogiraai (What are you going to say?)

Since Malar was no where to be found, Vetri decides to head down and find her. He leaves the room and is about to go down the stairs when he notices a ladder at the corner. He recalls Pughzal mentioning something about hanging a family picture and tells himself that that could be the reason why the ladder was placed there. He then recalls the incident where he had accidentally slipped from the ladder a year ago and in an effort to balance himself, he had held Malar's shoulder. Malar had slapped him. Vetri shakes his head and tries to push out that memory. He turns back and goes to the room. What if Malar did not feel the same way about him now?

Idhayam oru kannadi unadhu pinbam vizhunthathadi (Heart is a mirror, your image was casted on it)

Idhuthaan un sontham idayam sonnadadi (My heart told me that the image is your partner)

Kannadi pinbam katta kayir ondrum illaiyadi (To hold the image inside the mirror, there is no special rope)

Kannadi oonjal pinbam aaduthadi (The mirror is a swing, the image swings with the mirror)

Nee ondru solladi penne (Say it today, oh girl)

Illai nindru kolladi kannae (Or stop and slay me, oh my darling)

Endhan vaazhkaiyae undhan vizhivilimpil (My life is at the edge of your eyes)

Ennai thurathadae uyir karaiyeraadhe (Don't chase me away, my life won't reach the shores)

Vetri starts to wonder if Malar was avoiding him and if he had rushed things. Vetri recalls the Yercaud trip and convinces himself that he did see sparks of love in Malar's eyes. He knew that they would never reflect anything fake but he would only know if he was right if Malar comes. Vetri takes a deep breath. What if Malar said no? What would he do?

Vidiyal vandha pinnalum vidiyaaatha iravu ethu (Which is the night that does not break, even when dawn arrives?)

Poovasam veesum unthan koondaladi (It is your hair that ensues the smell of flowers)

Ivvulagam irunda pinnum irulaadha paagam edhu (Which is the part that does not dim, even when the whole world sinks in darkness?)

Kathir vandhu paayum unthan kangaladi (It is your eyes which are lighted)

Pala ulaga azhagigal koodi un paadam kazhuvalaam vaadi (Numerous beauty queens will flock to serve you since your beauty is unmatchable)

Enthan thalir malarae innum thayakam enna (My freshly blossomed flower, why do you still hesitate?)

Ennai puriyatha idhu vaazhvaa saavaa (Don't you understand my love? It is life or death to me)

Vetri picks his phone and goes into the gallery. He finds his favourite picture of Malar and looks at it. Slowly but surely, Malar had stolen his heart. Vetri knew that he could not live without her. Just then, Malar enters the room. Vetri looks up at her.

Vetri: Malar, I ...

Before he could continue, Malar stops him.

Malar: Give me a minute.

She then walks towards the cupboard.

Enna solla pogiraai (What are you going to say?)

Enna solla pogiraai (What are you going to say?)

Niyayamaa (Is it fair?)

Enna solla pogiraai (What are you going to say?)

Enna solla pogiraai (What are you going to say?)

Maunamaa maunamaa (Is it going to be silence?)

Enna solla pogiraai (What are you going to say?)

Vetri watches as she tiptoes and takes a frame from the top of the cupboard. Without saying anything, she passes the frame to him. Vetri takes it and looks at it. He breaks out into a smile.

Malar: I hope you got your answer.

Vetri places the frame on the bed and heads towards Malar. Before she could react, Vetri lifts her up and spins her around. Malar breaks out into a smile. After a while, he puts her down and holds on to her hand.

Vetri: I love you

Malar: I love you too Mama
