It was almost noon.

Last night, the two of them had an argument. As a result, Malar had not looked at him or spoken a word to him since morning. Vetri had been trying to get her attention but Malar was clearly ignoring him.

Kaathoram nee ericha vaarthai vandhu keeruthae (The words you hurled along my ears still come to hurt me)

Malar's words keep ringing in his ear. Last night, Vetri was angry that Malar was stubborn. He tried explaining but to no avail and he knew that if he said anything else, the argument would get bigger so he had just decided to sleep early. However, he could not sleep peacefully and kept tossing and turning the whole night. To his surprise, whenever he glanced at Malar, she seemed to be sleeping without any disturbance.

Ponaa poraa thaana varuvaa methapula thirinjaen ("Let her go! She has to come back to later!" I roamed around with my pretentious arrogance!)

Veerapellam veena pochu posukkunu udainjaen (All my pride is lost now, I stand here broken in an instant)

Even in the morning, when Vetri recalled the incident, he was angry and had decided that Malar should realise her mistake and until she herself apologises, he was not going to talk to her. However, seeing her face melted all his anger. He wanted to just hold her in his arms but clearly, that was not happening anytime soon. What shocked Vetri more was that Malar seemed to be unaffected at all. She had been doing her usual routine and was cheerful with the rest of the family. She was literally like an angel. However, when it came to him, Malar pretended as if he did not exist. Vetri decides to try once more and walks towards the backyard where the ladies of the house were doing some work.

Yeno unna paartha surukkunu varuthu (Don't know why but when I see you I become instantly angry)

Aana kitta neeyaa vandha manasu anga vizhudhu (But, when you come close though, my heart instantly falls for it)

Malar had noticed Vetri coming towards them. She knew that he was coming to speak to her but she was still angry at Vetri. Vetri comes and leans against the doorway while watching everyone work.

Anbukarasi: Enna Vetri, enna intha pakkam?

Vetri: Onnum illa ma. Romba naal aachu ungallukku help panni. Athan vanthaen.

Eswari: Apadiya? Illa Malara pakka vanthiya?

Everyone tease Vetri. Malar feels shy but since she was supposed to be angry with Vetri, she turns away.

Edhukku indha kobam (Why this pretentious anger?)

Nadichathu pothum (Enough of the acting)

Marachi nee paartghum velukkuthu saayam (You see me secretly with your hidden stares, your false act of anger is fading away)

Vetri had been looking at Malar. Seeing her turn away made him suspicious. Usually, an angry Malar would have ignored any comment but if she turned away, that would mean that she was actually feeling shy. Vetri walks towards Malar's direction and realises that she is indeed smiling shyly. With a smile on his face, he goes in front of her. Seeing Vetri, Malar tries to hide her smile.

Vetri raises his eyebrows as if questioning Malar and starts smiling at her.

Naethae naan thottaen ada ithuthanaa un vaegam (Oh Smarty! My anger is long gone! Did you only realise it now? Is this how shrewd you are?)

Malar gives in and smiles.

Vetri holds her hand.

Vetri: Amma, Malar konjam rest pannattum. Naan ippo vanthuduraen.

Before anyone can react, Vetri walks out bringing Malar along with him. Once away from the family, Vetri speaks.

Vetri: Innum enmela kovama?

Malar: Ama

Vetri: Paartha theriyalayae

Malar: Naan kettatha innum kodukalaiyae

Vetri: Raatri 11 manikku ice cream ketta eppadi kodukkurathu?

Malar: Naana kettaen. Kutti Malar thaanae kettah.

Vetri: Ithu niyamae illa Malar. Ava pera payanpaduthi ella nerammum ethachum ketta naan vaangi kodukanuma?

Malar pretends to get upset again but Vetri intervenes.

Vetri: Seri kochikatha. Ippo venumna oru ice cream vangi kodukkuraen.

Malar's face brightens up.

Malar: Ana ippo enakku ice cream vendaam. Jigirthanda thaan venum.

The both of them look at each other and start laughing.
