As Vetri stepped into the campus he had once been his second home for three years, he was filled with nostalgia. Today marked eight years since he left the university and he was back to bid farewell to his favourite professor who was retiring. He walks down the corridors leading to the staff room, but even before reaching his destination, he stops in his track. His eye look at the signboard and a small smile appears on his face. Seeing that the door was unlocked, he peeps in and sees that there was no one inside. He pushes open the door and walks to the last bench before sitting down. The room was dark but Vetri did not bother to switch on the lights. He rests his head on his palms and recalls the beautiful days he had as a student here. Nearly ten minutes had passed when Vetri hears sounds of footsteps. As he lifts his head, he sees another figure in the class who sits down at the first bench.

Vetri's eyes widen. Was it who he thought it would be? If only the light was switched on! Just then, the person's phone beeps and light from the phone screen which had brightened up clears Vetri's confusion. A small smile appears and Vetri knew that the person was who he had thought and hoped it would be - Malarvizhi. Seeing her after eight long years made Vetri excited and happy all at once. But would she feel the same way? Especially since it is so dark here, would she get scared? If only she would turn around and notice him.

At the same time, Vetri knew that it would not exactly be nice that he remain quiet and pretend as if he did not exist. As he takes a deep breath deciding to let Malar know his presence, memories of the young "Malar and Vetri" came flooding into his mind. Shaking his head to clear those thoughts, Vetri stands up and switches on his phone torchlight.

Seeing light appear from the back of the classroom, Malar stands up and turns back and there standing before her was Vetrivel. Malar's eyes widen and within a few seconds, her lips curve up into a smile.

Seeing Malar smile, Vetri's smile widens. Even back then, Malar could make Vetri smile easily. Some things in life have no explanation as to why or how they happen and Vetri's being fond of Malar was one such thing. A glance at Malar was enough to make his day happier. And then before they knew it, that carefree phase was over and reality had stepped in. They had both gone in own ways and once in a while, when he remembered his college days, Malar's smile would flash in his head.
