Author's Note:

A dream project that has finally become reality. I've always wanted to write on this song and somehow from just an OS, it became a collaboration effort with two of my favourite video editors - one for KM and one for VM. And just when we started the basic planning in December 2020, an unfortunate incident changed everything for the KM fanfamily. It took a big toll on me and eventually I thought i could never pull myself to write again. But here it is - the very first OS for 2021 which one of my favourite girls co-wrote with me. And so it became even bigger because now, we have two video edits on this song which can be found on Instagram and an OS.

Suttum vizhichchudardhaan Kannammaa, sooriya chandhiraro (Your gaze has the brightness of the sun and moon)
Vatta kariyavizhi kannammaa vaanak karumai kolloo (Your eyes reflect the darkness of the skies)

His heart skipped a beat as his eyes noted the entry of the one he had been eagerly waiting for - his angel. As their eyes met, everything around them blended into the state of non-existence for all he could see was her and her only. Her eyes - she had the most soulful eyes that he had ever seen; they would tell so many stories. The celestial circumference of the sun and moon draw their orbits around her pious, lightly kohled eyes and were the solitary witness of their love story, a testimony to the golden words that blazoned, love past all odds.

Pattu karuneela pudavai padhiththa nal vayiram (The diamonds on your dark silk saree)
Natta nadu nisiyil theriyum natchaththirangaladi (Show me the stars in broad daylight)

It took him tons of strength to break free from her magnetic gaze and it was only then that he noticed what she was wearing. It was a beautiful sight to see her in a saree. She was shining just like the sparkling stars in the night sky, except even brighter and even in daylight! A tough competition indeed. The love that's inked in her saree, oh! How many times has the breeze traced his senses waving the flag of heaven, her saree for the knight to come and take the princess along with him, how her fragrance envelopes him in the most dreamy trance ever.

Solai malar oliyooo unadhu sundhara punnagaidhaan (Your smile is the bloom of the garden)
Neela kadalalaiyae unadhu nenjin alaigaladi (Your heart, the waves of the sea)

Her raspberry lips extended their fluffy corners into a scintillating smile capturing his very being, what he felt perhaps would be what the bloom would feel bathed in the Sun's divine gaze. It all made sense didn't it? - she blossomed like a flower every single time that he was present. It's not just about the looks, oh never it was! Their eyes stood tall witnessing each other's silhouette vignette their purpose of life, that transversed within each other. She was the waves, he was the shore that enveloped her every tide, high and low, they stood through it all, stronger together.

Kola kuyil osai unadhu kuralin inimaiyadi (Your voice , sweet like the koel's)
Vaalai kumariyadi kannammaa maruva kaadhal konden (My love longs for union, Kannamma)

Seeing him lost in dreamland yet again regardless of the presence of everyone at home fills the air with laughter. But only her voice reaches his ears; they had a special connection where nothing else mattered except for the presence of the other. Flashes of eternity graced his pretty visage, the raw desire that his love bequeathed to spend aeons together, sailing in the same boat, paddling through perils and impediments and to be each other's balance exhilarated him, he yearned for such a time. His mind yondered through days where his little heart would tug in sullen strokes just because it couldn't race to see her. The man who lived in the present anticipated for a future and she made him do the math, make the plans to someday lead her to their beautiful cocoon.

Saaththiram pesugiraai kannamaa saaththiram yedhukkadi (You talk of rules, Kannamma)
Aaththiram kondavarkkae kannamaa saaththiram undoodi (What rules do paramours follow?)

Rage, he was once a young man of quickness and rage, who had not one to tell him why than shutting him off every time. He felt the past him asking him now, did all the redness that screamed angst once, was now churning his senses; spinning the tales to the butterflies and painted his cheeks crimson. He never knew heat until she smiled, dropping in gallons of warmth inside his quivering heart. She was all he ever needed, the one who filled his life with her mystical touch, changing his black and white world to one with bright colours. He finally gathers strength to take a step closer to her when her eyes speak in the language that only the two of them knew, to stay put.

Mooththavar sammadhiyil vadhuvai muraigal pinbu seivom (Elders, marriage and rituals can wait)
Kaaththiruppenodi idhu paar kannaththu muththam ondru (Can I come now? Let me kiss you.)

But to him, it didn't quite matter that they were surrounded by family. Because to him, she had become his family, all in one. He continued to trace her being with his feather shaped eyes, his every gaze writing psalms from the holiest of books, embarking on journeys of love and togetherness, she bloomed under his gaze blossoming redolence and divinity. He saw his world in her eyes, figurative it may sound but all of him revolved around her, and only her sublimely submitting his everything in her hands, to nurture and cherish evermore.

He felt like seasons combined, the warmth of the scorching sun and the chillness of eternal frost. His eyes and his actions were poles apart. He carried the face of an artless child, throwing in small glances while his actions proved otherwise. What an oxymoron he thought perhaps, the name has to be replaced! His breath fanning her face felt like a storm awaiting to engulf all her modesty to himself, the chasity and honesty in those eyes were the dreamiest of fairy tales she had ever heard. His light fuschia lips made their sweet trespass on her spongy cheek, breathing on her, the bristles of his beard pricked her showing the intensity with which her man loved her. Her toes curled feeling his collar brush her chin invading her femininity. She closed her eyes taking in all that he offered, he is hers to possess for eons to come.

The shooting star that passes leaves traces of hope in its residue spark. In the same way, love leaves its different hues and tints that makes the same colour in the smallest of things. Like the crumpled maple leaf sheltered in the pages of an age old journal carrying pieces of memories and fragments of people it loved. She clutched it close to her heart, his love armouring her to make her feel like a baby cocooned in her mother's warmth, safe and satisfied with life at that very moment.

~ Every year is a process of making memories, trudging through roads rarely taken; remembering the ones that hold us where their heart beats; hailing art; and respect the change that has taken place. At the end of the day all that we have in life are the memories that made us live in the moment. Vile: learn from it, worthwhile: endure it. So spread the art of kindness in this brand new year, proceed further with a big smile and make more beautiful memories! Happy New Year 2021!
