Vetri settles himself at the furthest end and props his face on his palm as he watches the ladies of the house do what they love and what men hated - saree shopping. His eyes moves across the ladies who were all selecting for that one person, his one person - Malar.

A smile automatically appears on his face and for a while, he forgets that he was all alone while the other men of the household had smartly escaped from all the waiting by coming up with other excuses.

Indira selects a beautiful green saree and places it on the shoulder of her loving daughter. It felt like just yesterday that she had held her little angel and now, she was ready for marriage and in a few years would be a mother herself to another little angel. Tears appear at the corner of her eyes and she quickly wipes it before anyone notices. Meanwhile, Vetri's eyes glint and his smile widens because Malar looked so beautiful with the green saree. All the women agree that it was a beautiful colour and they put the saree aside and continue to look through the pile.

The shopkeeper continues to display suitable sarees and just as the next saree was shown, Malar's grandmother stops the shopkeeper and asks him to open the saree so that they could take a look. A beautiful bright red saree with gold zari was opened. Malar runs her hand over the saree with a small smile. It was so beautiful and as the shop assistant helps put it over her shoulders, Malar feels that the wedding glow on her face was enhanced instantaneously and knew that this was the saree she wanted. She looks at Vetri through the reflection in the mirror and notices that he was already lost in dreamland where he was recalling those moments when Malar's face would redden just like the colour of the saree be it in moments of anger or when she was feeling shy. Not wanting her grandmother to feel that her choice wasn't considered, Malar asks the shop assistant to put this saree aside and continues to sit through the selection process.
