It was past midnight. Vetri had been not been able to fall asleep and had been tossing and turning. He then sits up and decides to calm his wavering mind with music. He switches on his music player and plays a song on random.

The moment the song plays, Vetri's eye widen. It was such a coincidence that the song that was playing was reflecting his mood.

His thoughts about Malar were what that was keeping him awake. He missed her, more than he thought he would and more than she could imagine.

It was definitely his decision to go out and volunteer and he knew the risks involved and the situation that he was putting himself but within, he really wanted to go out and do something meaningful. That was why he chose to do whatever he did even though Malar was totally against it. He knew that she would be going through so much of pain being away from him yet he had insisted that he had to answer his heart's true calling. But it was moments like these, when loneliness took control of his emotions.

Vetri looks up at the sky and sees the bright twinkling stars. They reminded him of her beautiful eyes. The eyes that spoke volumes to him. What was painful was that although they were in the same house, he could not be with her at this very moment. All he had were sweet memories of Malar.

Malar was where his world began and where his world ended. To be away from her despite being just one floor away was indeed torturous.

Vetri stands up and heads over to his bag of things. He then rummages through the items and picks out his wallet. He then comes back to where he was sleeping and sits on the mat. He opens the wallet and looks at the photograph of Malar. As he traced the picture with his fingers, his eyes tear up.

Malar brought meaning to his life. It was her that made him responsible and today, Vetri was definitely a changed man, all because of her. Malar was definitely Vetri's biggest blessing in life.

Tears roll down his cheek and Vetri wipes it off his face. He takes a deep breath before lying down again. It had been 14 days since he had held Malar's hands, felt her warm lips on his forehead and had held her close. They had been speaking to each other through phone calls and video calls but it was not the same as being with her physically. The warmth and care that Malar gave him made him feel at home and at that very moment, he knew that being home was not exactly coming back to their place of residence but rather to his Malar.

At the same time, thoughts about all that he had experienced in the past 14 days came back into his mind. Vetri had seen so many people suffer and be at the brink of death. He knew that he had made a difference in these lives and that satisfaction was priceless. Vetri looks at the photograph again and places a kiss on it.

He knew he had to wait a little longer for their reunion but knew that in the past 14 days, it was memories of Malar that were keeping him strong and even today, the hope that days would move by fast enough so that he could go home to her was what that would keep him going.

Vetri closes his eyes and embraces the pain his heart felt. Slowly, he falls asleep.
