It was 8pm and Malar was standing at the balcony. She had been thinking of the day's incident. Vetri had brought her out to the temple and just as they were about to leave, they had seen one of their school mate. She was pregnant and had come with her husband and three year old daughter. Upon seeing Malar and Vetri, she had requested the two of them to join her for lunch. The two of them could not say no to a pregnant woman hence, all of them had gone for lunch.

Idhayathai yedho ondru izhukuthu konjam indru (There is something pulling my heart strings)

Idhuvarai ithupolae naanum illaiyae (never before was I under such turmoil)

Kadalalai polae vandhu karaigalai allum ondru (something hits like the surge onto the shores of sea, and consumes it)

Muzhukida manathum pin vaanga villaiyae (didn't hesitate wee bit to drown under this raging wave of your charm)

Vasugi: Hmm Vetri. Naan itha ethir parkavae illa. Yaarayum yer edutthu kooda paakamatae school time la. Anna ippo partha Malarai oru niishathukku oru thadavaiyavathu paathukitu irukka.

Malar: Kindal pannatha vasugi. Seri sollu. Yeppadi irukka. Alaiyae kaanom.

Vasugi: Unaku thaan theriyuma Malar. Neengala collegeku pokumbothu thaan enakku kalyanam panni vechitangale. Athoda Trichyla settle pannitaen. Innum rendu vaarathula en veetukarar velai vishayama velioor poraru. Athan ennai Amma veetula vida vantharu. Thaniya ennala manage panna mudiyathu.

Vetri: Nalathu thaan. Appo naanga unnai adikadi parpomnu sollu.

Vetri turns and plays with Vasugi's daughter. Malar observes Vetri's playful side and as always melts.

Iruppathu oru manathu (all I have is this lone heart)

Ithuvarai athu ennathu (and was sure it is mine till this moment)

Ennaivittu methuvaai athu poga kandanae (can't help as it slips away slowly from me)

Seeing him go from being mature to being playful and childish in a few seconds made Malar fall even more. Every time Vetri smiled, his dimple was more obvious and Malar's heart would skip a beat. Knowing that she would have the privilege of seeing him smile all throughout their lifetime made Malar feel extra special. This man was hers. Only hers.

Idhu oru kanavu nilai (This is a dream that I am living)

Karaithida virumba villai (I do not want to wake up from this slumber)

Kanavukkul kanavaai ennai naane kandanaae (I am living the dream within the dream and seeing myself there)

As Vetri and Malar bid farewell to Vasugi, she had told Malar something.

Vaasugi: Freeah iruntha veetukku vaanga.

Vetri: Kandippa. Nee thirumba Trichy porathukula oru vaatiyavathu naanga varom.

He turns and carries Vasugi's daughter. He then speaks to the girl and tells her that he would see her soon and would bring her chocolate the next time they meet.

Meanwhile, Vasugi whispered to Malar.

Vasugi: Solraenu thappa nenachikatha Malar. Vetrikku en kolanthaiya vittu piriyavae manasu illa. Seekiram oru pullaya pethu kudu. Avan antha pilla mela usuraiyae veppan. Athu ippavae theriyuthu.

Vetri then hands back Vasugi's daughter back to her father and the two of them had left for home.

Enakkenna vendum endru oru vaarthai kelu nindru (ask me what I desire with a single utter)

Ini neeyum naanum indru ena sollum naalum yendru (when will the day come to say "we are one in tow"?)

The words "Seekiram oru pullaiya pethu kodu" kept ringing in Malar's ears. Right from her Appatha to her friend, everyone had said the same thing. But every time she thought about it, her heart would beat extra fast. Deep within, Malar too wanted a baby - which would be their symbol of love. Yet some fear would take control of Malar.

Malargalai alli vanthu (bringing a bouquet of flowers)

Magizhvuden kaiyil thanthu (delightedly handing them over)

Manadhinai pagirnthidavae (and sharing my thoughts with you)

Aasai kolkindraen (is how I desire to meet you)

Each day, Malar would long for it to begin and end with Vetri. Seeing his face first thing in the morning and leaning onto his shoulders right before going to sleep had become a daily routine. Throughout the day, they would call or text each other and it would make up for the distance.

Thaduppathu enna endru (however, something is restraining me)

Thavikkthu nenjam indru (my heart throb in pain)

Nathiyinil ilai enna naan (like a leaf caught in a river)

Thointhu selgiraen (floating helplessly by)

Yet, when it came to going the next step, somehow Malar was hesitant. She loved Vetri, more than she could ever imagine. But somehow, that natural fear overpowered her. Malar breathes deeply. Would she ever be able to overcome it?

Arumbugal poovagum azhagiya maatram (the buds blossoms into beautiful flowers is a sight to behold)

Aayiram aandaga palagiya thottram (a cycle so natural for thousands of years)

Oru velli kolusu pola (the chimes of the silver anklet)

indha manasu sinungum keela (is how my heart whines into embarrassment at your thoughts)

Aniyatha vairam pola (a diamond not worn)

Puthu naanam minungum mela (is how coyness shines on me)

Malar was so lost in her thoughts that she did not realise Vetri come behind her. Only when he held her hand did she come back to the present. Malar turns and looks at Vetri. Looking into her eyes, Vetri already knew what was wrong. He caresses Malar's cheek and speaks.

Vetri: Malar, let me remind you again. Just because everyone has been saying, it does not mean we have to rush. Only when you are truly comfortable, then we will think about the next step. For now, let's enjoy being in love.

Malar buries her face into Vetri's chest and hugs him. This was why this man was so special - he knew her inside out even without her having to say a word.
