Vetri walks into the room, feeling a little nervous. Malar had told him to come home earlier than usual and throughout the evening, every time he looked at her, she would end up blushing. She was unable to maintain eye contact at all and as a whole, Vetri was very suspicious.

Narumugaiye narumugaiye (Oh fragrant bud that is ready to bloom)

Nee oru naaligai nillai (could you stop for an instance)

Sengani ooriya vaai thiranthu (Open your red honey dripping lips)

Nee oru thirumozhi sollai (and utter a few precious verses)

Atrai thingal annilavil (On a full moon night)

Netri tharala neer vadiya (with water droplets dripping down the forehead)

Kotra poigai aadiyaval neeya (the one bathing playfully in the waterfall, was it you?)

Shortly after Vetri settles down in the room, Malar comes in. She turns to lock the door and on hearing the sound, Vetri looks up from the book he was reading. There she was, his Malar. Regardless of what time in the day it was or the attire she was wearing, Malar was beautiful to Vetri. Today, Vetri could see that Malar had taken more efforts to look pretty since her hair was done in a different style than her usual plait. Malar turns back and upon seeing Vetri, she again looks down at her feet and blushes.

Thirumagane thirumagane (Oh handsome young man)

Nee oru naazhigai paaraai (could you look here for an instance)

Vennira puraviyil vanthavanae (The one who came riding a white horse)

Velvizhi mozhigal kaelaai (listen to what my spear like sharp eyes say)

Atrai thingal annilavil (On a full moon night)

Kotra poigai aadugaiyil (when I was bathing playfully in the stream)

Otrai paarvai paarthavanum neeya (The one who laid his eyes on me, was it you?)

Malar was overwhelmed with emotions. With every step she took towards Vetri, more than anything, shyness had taken control of her. She had no idea how he would react if she told him what she was going to say. Since she had called him that afternoon, thinking of his reaction was enough to make her blush. At the beginning, when they were newly married, Malar could not look into Vetri's eyes. His strong gaze would make her feel uncomfortable. Today, she also could not look into his eye because his gaze made her feel shy.

Mangai maan vizhi ambugal en maar thulaithathenna (Why did the arrows from your deer like beautiful eyes pierce my heart?)

Vetri notes Malar's hesitation. There was something that she wanted to tell him but could not. It was strange that she could not even look into his eyes.

Paandi naadanai kandaa en manam pasalai kondathenna (Why does my body become hysterical after catching a glimpse of the Paandian king?)

Malar sits at the edge of the bed. Her heart beats fast and her fingers play with the end of her saree.

Nilavilaae paartha vannam (The silhouette that I saw under the moon light)

Kanavilae thondrum innum (still lingers in my dreams)

Vetri puts the book down and looks at Malar's face. Something was different - her face was glowing and together with shyness, Malar looked even more beautiful.

Ilaithaen thudithaen porukkavillai (I withered, I turned restless, and I could not wait any longer)

Idaiyil megalai irukkavillai (Even the golden ornament that adorned my hips did not stay in its place and slipped due to turmoil of waiting for her lover)

Malar decides to let Vetri know what she had in mind. She takes a deep breath and attempts to calm herself.

Yaayum gnaayum yaaraagiyaro nenju nernthathenna (Were my mother and your's related to each other, how is it that our hearts blended together?)

Yaanum neeyum evvali arithum uravu sernthathenna (How did I and you meet and how did we bind in a relationship?)

Orae oru theendal seithaai (Just with a single caressing touch)

Uyirkodi poothathena (how did you make my life blossom?)

Semboolam serntha neer thuli pol (Just like the red soil from earth and the water from the rain blend beyond separation)

Anbudai nenjam kalanthathenna (Our hearts have blended together in love)

Before she could begin, Vetri puts his hand on top of Malar's. Malar forgets to breathe for a moment.

Vetri: Malar, enna achu.

Malar: Athu...

Vetri: Thayangama sollu.

Malar breathes heavily.

Malar: Namma appa amma aga porom.

She covers her face with her hands as if to conceal that she was blushing. Vetri smiles widely. He slowly removes Malar's hands from her face and cups her cheeks.

Vetri: Nijama solriya?

Malar nods her head. Vetri pulls her into a hug and the two of them smile. It was indeed the start to a beautiful journey ahead.
