Vetri: Mama, don't worry. I'll drive carefully.

That evening, Malaisamy Appuchi and Naatarasan had asked Vetri to take the car bring Malar out and spend time with her in hope that the two of them would sort out their misunderstanding. Vetri had attempted to speak to Malar but seeing that she was not keen to have a conversation, Vetri decided to bring her to her home instead.

Upon seeing Malar, her entire family was overwhelmed with emotions since it was the first time that they were visiting after Rasadurai sold his home due to the financial situation. Even in that difficult situation, Rasadurai had welcomed Vetri and Malar with a big smile and asked them to stay overnight. However, knowing his mother's character, Vetri decided to head home to avoid further problems. It was almost 10pm when Vetri started the car.

Halfway through the journey, Vetri decides to switch on the radio to overcome the awkward silence in the car.

As soon as the song started playing, Vetri glanced at Malar. Although she was seated in the front passenger seat, her head was turned away.

Unai mella nee unarndhaal (If you realize yourself slowly)

Meanwhile, Malar had various thoughts in her head. She recalled Anjali telling her that Vetri still loves her. No women woul be able to take it if her husband loved someone else. It was the same with Malar. She could not bear the thought of Vetri still being in love with Anjali. The thought that Vetri was bounded to this marriage because of his family and the promise he had made to Maran really affected her.

Malar had moved past Maran and now her whole world revolved around Vetri. His happiness mattered to her but Malar could not give up Vetri. In fact, she was very confused about everything that had happened. The question of whether the Vetri she knew was real or the Vetri Anjali spoke about was real was killing her deep within. 

Idhayam ketkum kadhalukku (Love which listens to the heart)

Vetri recalled the incident which took place a few days ago. Malar had questioned his virtues just because he drank and danced at a party. His whole world was Malar and when the questions about his character came from her, it deeply broke him. As he recalled, his eyes filled with tears.

Medum pallam illamal (It's not a smooth ride in love)
Oru paadhai ingu kidaiyadhu (There is no smooth path way here)

Oru kadhalin aalam puriyadhe (Gauge the depth of love)

Upon hearing the lyrics, Malar starts thinking. Would talking to Vetri directly make a difference? If he was still thinking about Anjali, then maybe seperation would be the solution. Malar's eyes fills with tears. Giving up a loved one is not easy thing but if that would be what Vetri needs to be happy, then maybe that is what she should do.

Vetri is overwhelmed with emotions. He drives the car to the side of the road and stops. Malar turns in time to see tears roll down Vetri's cheeks.

Malar had not seen Vetri tear in the past few months. But the moment she saw him tear, tears rolled down her cheeks as well. Vetri looks at her and they share an eyelock.

That moment, Malar knew that Vetri would not lie. His eyes spoke a volume and she could feel his pain. This Vetri was the same Vetri that she fell in love with. This Vetri was real.

Malar stretches her hand out and wipes his tears.

Malar: I'm so sorry. I have hurt you so much.

Seeing more tears roll down her face, Vetri stretches his hand out and wipes her tears.

Vetri: Nothing like that Malar. I can't bear to see tears in your eyes.

Malar holds Vetri's hand and tells him every single thing that had happened leading to her decision of not talking to him.

Malar: This is what happened.

Vetri: Malar, I have only lied once to you and I have already told you about it today. I had a first love and it was Anjali. But I guess I did not get my point across clearly. I loved Anjali but everything is over. She is just a friend. Now, my heart, soul and life belong to you. It is true that we married because of our families and my promise to Maran. But somewhere in between, I have fallen in love with you. I do not know what you feel but there is no better time than today to tell you this. I love you. No pressure on you but I'm willing to wait till you feel the same

Malar's eyes light up and a small smile appears on her face. She hides her smile and begins to speak.

Malar: Then I should tell you what is in my head. That night during our anniversary dinner, I wanted to tell you something. In fact, I have been trying to say that ever since your birthday. There cannot be another better moment than this. I love you Vetri Mama.

Vetri has a huge smile on his face.

Vetri: Really?

Malar nods.

Tear roll down Vetri's face. He kisses her hand. The two of them smile.
