Vetri had been sitting at a corner near his field. He was extremely upset because the weather conditions were not favourable. He had been expecting the rain to come a few days ago but there were no signs of rain at all. If this situation was to persist, Vetri knew that he would be facing a difficult time which might even result in losses. Just then, in the distance, he sees Malar approaching him.
Iravanaai thandha iraiviye (Oh, the goddess who was given by a god)
Irulinil kaanum oviyame (The picture which is seen in dark)
Iravanaai thandha iraiviye (Oh, the goddess who was given by a god)
Irulinil kaanum oviyame (The picture which is seen in dark)
Thuyarilum ennai thaangum deviye (Oh devi who stands with me even in bad times)
Uyirvarai undhan madiyile (I will lie in your lap till I live)
Valigalai pokkum kaadhal parvaiyil (In the love looks which get rids of pain)
Ullagame kaalin adiyile (the whole world is under the feet)
Vetri recalls the previous night's incident when he had shared this problem with Malar. She had not only comforted him but had also reassured him that the rain god would listen to his pleas. However, nothing had changed today. Malar comes near him and sits down beside him. She places her hand on his shoulder.
Malar: Mama...
Vetri: Innikkum mazhai vara maari theriyala.
Malar: Nambikaiyai vidatheenga. Varuna bagawan nammala kai vida maataar.
Vetri smiles half heartedly. He knew that Malar had been trying to make him feel better but he also knew that reality was different.
Uyire uyire undhan porule (O life, O life, your thing)
Vinnai naan alli tharavaa (Shall i give you the universe?)
Kannane kannane endhan mannane (O Kanna, O Kanna, My king)
Sorgathai kaiyil tharava (Shall I give heaven in your hands?)
Malar takes Vetri's hand in her hands.
Malar: Kalaiyilayum neenga olunga sappidala. Konjama enakkaga ippo sappidunga Mama.
Vetri: Pasi illa ma
Malar: Enakkaga? Please.
Vetri reluctantly agrees. The two of them head to the mortar room where Malar sets up a mat. She then takes out lunch.
Malar: Inikku naane ootividuraen.
Before Vetri could say anything, Malar starts to feed him. After a few mouths,
Vetri: Pothum ma
Malar: Innum konjam
Vetri: Illa ma, ennala saapida mudiyathu
Malar then washes her hand and packs everything. She then sits down with Vetri and tries to speak to him about other things just to cheer him up. But Vetri seems uninterested.
Vetri: Malar, thala konjam valikkuthu. Naan konja neram thoonga poraen
Malar nods and attempts to hide her sadness with a smile. She then goes to sit outside the mortar room while Vetri lies down inside. Both of them were upset.
Nenjukkul ennavo sirikkiraen (Inside the heart, for some reason I laugh)
Ullukulle kuyil paadudhae (Cuckoo sings inside me)
A while later, Malar feels a drop of water fall on her hand. Malar looks around but sees the sun still shining. She ignores it but shortly after, another drop falls on her hand. By then, the smell of rain was overpowering and Malar knew that it was going to rain.
Malar runs into the mortar room and wakes Vetri up.
Vetri: Nee innum veetukku pogalaya?
Malar: Naan porathu irukkattum, neenga mothala vaanga.
Vetri: Vilayadatha Malar
Malar: Ayyo Mama.
Malar holds Vetri's hand and forces him to get up. She then drags him outside and Vetri follows reluctantly. To his surprise, it was raining. Vetri's face lights up.
Mandhiramai kangalo izhukkudhe (Like magic, the eyes attracts)
Thottathellam ingu pooguthe (Whatever I touch, blossoms)
Malar looks at Vetri with a huge smile on her face. Before Vetri could say anything, she runs into the field and touches the crops. Malar then comes back to Vetri and pulls him into the rain. Malar dances around like a free spirit in the rain and Vetri watches her with a big smile.
Aadhi thayum neeyadi (The first mother is you)
Paaraimeedhu neeradi (Water in the rock)
Ever since Vetri had married Malar, she was his lucky charm. Be it narrowly escaping death in various situations or for his transformation on the whole, all credits would go to Malar. Today, she once again proved that she was his lucky charm.
Muthamidu muthamizhe (Kiss me, O three types of Tamil Language)
Vetri goes near Malar and pulls her close to him. Malar looks into his eyes and Vetri leans forward and gives her a kiss on her forehead.
Athainaiyum ennavale (All of it is my dear)
Vetri then attempts to speak but Malar uses her finger and places it on his lip.
Kaadhile then paayudhe (Honey flows inside my ears)
Malar: Everything else can wait. The rain calls for celebrations.
She then continues to dance and Vetri joins along as well.
Iravanaai thandha iraiviye (Oh, the goddess who was given by a god)

Valigalai pokkum kaadhal parvaiyil (In the love looks which get rids of pain)
Ullagame kaalin adiyile (the whole world is under the feet)
After a while, Malar decides to head back indoors even though the rain did not subside.
Malar: Rombha neram mazhaila iruntha jalathosam vanthudum. Vaanga mothala ulla povom.
Malar turns to walk back but Vetri sweeps her off her feet.

Malar smiles and holds on to Vetri's shirt. The two of them settle down at the mortar room and watch the beautiful sight of rain pouring while snuggling close to each other.
