Malar: Just leave me alone.

Vetri: But

Malar: I can handle everything myself. I just want to be alone for the next five days. Please don't turn up for the wedding.

Malar turns and walks off towards the bus to Chennai without letting Vetri speak. A few minutes after she boards the bus, the bus leaves the bus stand.

Usure vittu poyitta (My life, you have left me)

Manasa vetti veesitta (My heart, you have cut me into pieces)

Vetri is broken after hearing whatever Malar said. He had told her that he would accompany her since it was at night. However, he did not expect such a reaction from Malar. For the past year, Vetri had been bearing everything that Malar had said to him but today, it had gone beyond the limit. Vetri starts his bike and slowly drives home.

Nee thandha kaayamum (The pain that you have given me)

Nee thandha kobamum (The anger that you displayed)

Ennodu irukkirathe (Still lurks within)

Naan thandha paasamum (The love I gave you)

Naan konda nesamum (The care I showed you)

Unnodu irukkiratha (Do you still feel it)

Malar's words keep echoing in Vetri's ears. His eyes fill with tears and he continues to drive home. Vetri recalls the days when Malar used to show hatred on him and how she had slowly changed. During the Yercaud trip, Malar had been more like a friend but all of a sudden, things had changed.

Usure vittu poyitta (My life, you have left me)

Manasa vetti veesitta (My heart, you have cut me into pieces)

When Vetri reaches his house, he parks his bike. He enters the house and sees everyone sitting in the hall.

Yaarodum pesaama, oru theeva pola (Like an island that is abandoned)

Naal ellam vazhnthenae (My life has become)

Verodu seraatha oru poova nambi veezhthenae (I placed my trust in a flower with no roots)

Anbukarasi: Vetri, where is Malar?

Vetri turns and walks away to the staircase.

Eswari: See Chinnamma. Vetri is so disrespectful. He has changed.

Anbukarasi: Vetri, stop right there.

Even though the conversation was with him, Vetri remains in a daze and walks to his room without answering any of the questions. He closes the room door and walks to the bed. He slumps against the side of the bed and remains in a daze.

Adi thannoda iragellaam kanmunnae vizhunthaalum (Even if it's feathers happen to fall)

Paravaigal thedaathae (The birds will not look for them)

Adi aanalum iragukku (Still the feathers)

Paravaiyin nyabagam eppothum pogaathae (Will never forget the birds)

Every single memory with Malar flashes in front of Vetri's eyes. More than the negatives, Vetri keeps remembering the happy memories of the two of them.

Yeno valigalum maraiyala (Why has the pain not faded)

Yeno azhuthida thonala (Why don't I feel like crying)

Naano sethariya kannadi (I am like the shards of a broken mirror)

Vetri's gaze moves towards the trophy that Malar and he had won in the competition in Yercaud. The world had recognised them as an ideal couple but why did things change? Vetri was broken but by then, he was numb. There were no tears in his eyes but clearly he was disturbed.

Po po thani maram naanadi (Go away, i am a lonely tree)

Po po enakkini yaaradi (Go away, i have no one else)

Po po evalum venaandi (Go away, i don't need anyone else)

All of a sudden, Vetri hears knocks on the door. He ignores it and remains where he was seated. He knew that if he opened the door, his mother and sister would question him and that would just add to the pain that he was already facing.

Usure vittu poyitta (My life, you have left me)

Manasa vetti veesitta (My heart, you have cut me into pieces)

The entire room was filled with memories of Malar and each direction he faced, Vetri felt overwhelmed. Vetri knew there was something bothering Malar which could have been the reason for her outburst. But what disturbed him was that she could not trust him enough to be vocal about it and instead chose to vent her anger on him.

Nee thandha kaayamum (The pain that you have given me)

Nee thandha kobamum (The anger that you displayed)

Ennodu irukkirathe (Still lurks within)

Naan thandha paasamum (The love I gave you)

Naan konda nesamum (The care I showed you)

Unnodu irukkiratha (Do you still feel it)

Vetri decides to pack his bag and stay at the hut near his paddy field. He decides to speak to Malar and clear everything the day she comes back. He could no longer bear the pain that her words gave him. He gets up on his feet and the first thing he does is to pick up the photoframe on the bedside table. It was a picture of the two of them in Yercaud.

En Usurae En Manase (My life, my heart)

Usurae (My life)

His fingers trace the outline of Malar and he holds the frame close to his heart when the door opens. Vetri turns and sees Malar standing there with tear filled eyes. Before he could say anything or react, Malar runs to him and buries her face on his shirt.

Malar: I am so sorry. The moment i boarded the bus, I knew i made a mistake. I thought that the wedding would be an excuse to be alone for a few days but what I did not realise is that there was no point because i was leaving my heart behind with you. When the bus moved off, I saw you from the window and I knew that i had hurt you. Even if i did make it to Aishwarya's wedding, I would not be happy. So i chose to come back. I made such a stupid decision and as usual hurt you in the process. Will you ever forgive me?

Vetri could sense her sincerity in the apology. He uses his hand to lift Malar's face. He looks into her eyes.

Vetri: It is not wrong for you to want to be alone. I will never be a hinderance. But I just hope you remember that I will always be here for you. Whatever it is, let's speak to each other and finish the problem. I can never stay angry with you nor bear tears in your eyes.

He wipes Malar's tears and Malar hugs him.

Malar: I love you.

Vetri smiles.
