(Y/n)'s POV
"What?"
"Anesagi just called. Let's go."I followed him to the front door just as the others noticed our hurried departure. Someone immediately grabbed my arm, stopping me just as I was about to leave. Gaku-nii looked less than happy that he had to leave yet worry clouded his features nonetheless.
"Iori..."
"Did something happen?" he asked.
"I'll explain, you guys go," exclaimed Tenn.Iori's hand hesitantly slipped away from my arm. I didn't bother dwelling on the warmth of his hand or his lingering gaze as I bowed deeply towards everyone as an apology for leaving so suddenly.
Gaku-nii pulled me down the small walkway, hurrying us along. His hand squeezed tight as I found myself struggling to keep up with his fast pace. I gritted my teeth and pushed past the pain.
He quickly pulled me up and into his arms as the door of the bus closed with a click, barely missing my hair. I took a moment to catch my breath as he used one arm to keep a steady hold on me and the other to grab a handle.
I stepped out of his grasp as soon as I was back to normal and took an empty seat. The scenery rushed by in a flowing blur, masking the clear truth from my eyes.
~At the hospital~
"He's still unconscious, but thankfully has passed the critical stage. All we can do now is wait for him to regain consciousness," informed the doctor.
"Thank you."Anesagi was already inside the room. She looked up as soon as we entered and gestured for us to take a seat. I sat down beside her with Gaku-nii at my left. Father almost seemed peaceful in his sleep. How ironic.
"So?" Gaku-nii prompted.
"He was a hitman. We found out that he..." Anesagi began.
"He what?"She risked a glance my way. I hardened my gaze, urging her to continue.
"He was hired by Mikoto Entertainment."
I closed my eyes, rubbing my temple. That damn moron! What the hell was he thinking?! This was on me...father's injury was on me... I had to do something.
Before I could dial Maru, Gaku-nii snatched my phone away and called him instead. I tried to get it yet he only held it out of reach and answered once Maru picked up.
"You the bastard who hired a hitman to kill my old man?"
I tackled Gaku-nii to the ground, managing to put the phone on speaker.
"Let me correct something, Yaotome junior. I did not hire him to 'kill' your father. It was supposed to be a small distraction. A simple request made by your sister."
"Oh yeah? My sister made no request to injure him."
"But she wanted me to send him some small flies. A reasonable interpretation."
"You bastard!"
"Gaku-nii, calm down! Maru-"
"Don't think I don't know how he treated you...(Y/n)."
"But this does not justify the-"
"I'm a businessman...but I'm also a sick bastard, (Y/n). You should've realised this the day I almost hurt you all those years ago..."Iori's POV
We had only come for a casual dinner, a friendly gathering. Yet, with one small sweep, (Y/n) had managed to wipe all the nonchalant smiles we had on...because we all cared about her.
I felt Naomi's hand slide over mine as her mouth twisted into a sorrowful frown. Of course...(Y/n)'s father was in the hospital after all. I squeezed her hand.
"Is he gonna be okay?" asked Naomi's mother.
"Yes, he's stable now," replied Tenn.
"That's reassuring."
"Don't look so gloomy. It's not like the world's ending."He angled the stare towards the members of IDOLiSH7, lingering on me for a second longer. (Y/n)'s relationship with her father was...questionable yet he was still her father. I found myself worrying more about her. What did she think about all this?...
"Is there something else you're not telling us?" Riku asked.
"What do you mean?" questioned his brother.
"You seem...distant somehow. Was there something else that happened?"
"No."
"Tenn-nii-"
"I said no. Although you may act like friends, she's still your assistant manager. Her personal life is of no concern- it should be none of your concern."
"Then why can you know all this? What makes us so different?"
"Do you know her like I do? Do you know how she feels about this? Do you understand her?"
"I..."
"Kujo-san, we've not been with her for as long as you have. It's only natural that we don't know her as well."His sharp gaze almost tore through my mask of indifference. I held on, unwilling to yield beneath his penetrating sword. Ryuu immediately cut through, putting a hand on Tenn's shoulder...a warning.
"Let's go home," Sogo said softly.
"I'll see you guys off," Naomi exclaimed with a smile, trying to ease the mood.Throughout all this, her hand hadn't left mine once. Her eyes remained on mine, a constant reminder of her support. I didn't meet her gaze, I couldn't bare to face her knowing that I hadn't given her a thought since (Y/n) left.
"Oh, (Y/n) texted me."
We looked at Tamaki, who held out his phone for us to see. It read: Hey Tamaki, it's fine. Everything's fine now so tell everyone not to worry.
I heard Sogo sigh in relief along with Naomi. Was she really fine? Niisan suddenly elbowed me, as I winced and shot him a glare. He flashed a cheeky smile and offered a hard pat on the back.
"You saw the message. She's fine. Her dad's fine. So let's not worry. It won't make anything better," he said.
I looked into the distance as his words sank in. If worrying really could makes things better, I'd worry for eternity. If worrying could make things different, I wouldn't stop. I just wanted...
