Jungkook's POV

"Families are like branches on a tree. We grow in different directions yet our roots remain as one."

I woke up to the sound of my alarm I set for lunch at 1:30pm. I could feel endless amounts of nerves flowing through my body as I anticipated what was going to come over the course of the day.

The first thing I did though, instead of letting my nerves get to me, was go to the fridge and grab iced coffee. Then Kai walked out of his room, freezing when he saw me.

"What the fuck man, that's my coffee!" Kai exclaimed, a hurt expression on his face.

"But it's not?" I replied, starting to question if it actually was mine.

Kai smirked and said, I know." Then starting to laugh hysterically.

"You really piss me off sometimes." I said not finding Kai's joke funny at all.

"I know, but you're stuck with me!" Kai said, still laughing like a mad man.

"You little-"

I was cut off by the sound of my phone ringing, quickly picking it up to see my mother's name lit up on the screen.

"Yah Jungkook-ah! Are you taking care of Kai over there?"

"Yes mom." I said rolling my eyes. "Although he can be quite annoying sometimes."

"Jungkook, be nice to your cousin." she said sternly, I can only imagine the frown she has on.

"Yeah! Be nice to me!" Kai yelled, his laugh slowly starting to fade away.

"You little shit-"

"Watch your language, young man." my mom scolded. "Jungkook! I swear to god if you don't take care of that boy."

"Mom, I got everything under control. No need to worry about us. We're doing just fine." Jungkook said looking over to see Kai drinking his iced coffee. "Kai if you dont get your grubby hands of my fucking coffee-"

"Let me talk to Kai." my mom said having enough of our fighting.

I rolled my eyes and gave Kai my phone, Kai also looking slightly annoyed as he knew how my mother could be.

"She's in questioning mode. Don't make me look bad." I warned, snatching my coffee back from him and walking back into my room.

Sitting on his bed I could still hear Kai talking faintly through the walls. In an attempt to silence the room I searched through my bag trying to find my headphones that were tangled along with my charger and lodged in between my shoes.

After untangling them I quickly shoved them into my ipod and listened to Taehyung's voice bounce in my head. I looked out the window as I heard Singularity's sweet melody in my ears. All my prior stress slowly leaving my body as I'm left with nothing but Taehyung's voice. All the stress about meeting Taehyung's company, stress about learning the choreography, and stress about taking care of Kai all leave my head as if they were never there to begin with. I restart the song and slowly stand up, getting ready to practice the dance I was taught yesterday.

Slowly, Kai slowly opened the door, peeking his head in and holding my phone out for me to take.

"Thanks. How bad was she this time?" I said, with a little chuckle, knowing how she can be.

"Not bad actually. She just wanted to know what I was up to and how I was feeling lately. I told her just appointments and school work. I also told her I was feeling better." he said with a small smile creeping on to his lips.

"Are you though, Kai?" I ask warily. I can't help but worry about him, he's basically my brother.

"Yes, Kook." Kai reassured, showing a small smile as he spoke.

I sighed, not sure whether I should believe him but deciding it's better if I let the topic drop for now.

"Will you be alright by yourself today? I have a few things I need to do." I ask as if I'm his mother.

"Yeah, I always am, Kook. You don't need to worry. I can cook myself some ramen for lunch and you should be home by dinner right?" He said with a hint of annoyance in his voice.

"Kai, don't tell me not to worry. I am responsible for you and I don't want anything bad happening to you." My motherly instincts were really showing, even though I'm not a mother.

"Nothing will happen." Kai said with a little more annoyance dripping from his words.

"You don't know that!" I said a bit louder than I meant to, immediately slapping my hand over my mouth as I realized what I just said.

Kai went silent as he shifted his gaze around my room before finally looking at me again.

"Take your medicine and rest while I'm gone." I said softly.

"Ok." he mumbled, looking at the floor as he said it

I felt a twinge of guilt, but if I didn't yell he wouldn't have understood how I felt or why he needed to be careful. Before Kai could fully exit my room, I stepped forward and pulled him into a huge hug.

"You know I'm only mean because I care about you, right?" I asked, emoting and care tangled in my words.

"Yes, hyung. I know you wouldn't yell just because." Kai said, rolling his eyes.

"Then stop being mad at me." I said with a cute little pout on my lips.

"I'm not mad at you, hyung." he said, a little hesitant.

"Then tell me what's wrong."

"I just wish you didn't have to worry like this." he said a little choked up with tears.

I finally released Kai from the hug, looking at his sad facial expression.

"I would worry even if there wasn't a reason to. Kai, you are too important to me for me to not have worries. So get your head out of your ass and stop being sad." I said, laughing slightly as I said the last part.

Kai finally smiled, shaking his head yes as he did to show he understood.

"If you get to worry about me then I get to worry about you too." Kai said, his smile so big his eyes scrunched.

"I can agree to that." I said with a smile plastered on my face.

"Don't forget to eat too, hyung."

"I won't, don't worry about that part."

"Nah I'm finna worry about your skinny ass." Kai said with a smile so big it probably hurt.

"I'm fine you fucking rat." I said, copying his smile.

"But if you don't eat you won't be fine anymore." he said, thinking he's smart.

"Get out of my room!" I exclaimed while playfully pushing Kai towards the door

"I- you are so mean to me!!!! I should have ratted you out to Auntie!" Kai yelled fake crying out of my room.

"I love you, Kai!" I yelled

"I'M SO SORRY BUT YOUR LOVE IS FAKE AND I'M SICK OF IT!" Kai yelled down the hall.

I scoffed but didn't bother responding to Kai.

Suddenly there were footsteps running down the hall and Kai's head popped into my room.

"But my love isn't fake." he said before running away again.

"That little shit..." I mumbled to myself, before getting up to finally start the dance.
