"Sometimes you just know it's time to start something new and trust the magic of new beginnings."
~
Taehyung sat on the beach nervously, feeling the sand run between his fingers and toes as he stared at the ocean ahead of him. The water looked calm and collected, moving softly with a steady rhythm. He sat with a sad smile as he watched Jimin playing in the water. He tried to calm his nerves by looking at the waves rolling in and out of the shore. This worked to a small extent until Jimin came out of the water, his figure becoming larger and larger as he made his way back to where his boyfriend sat in the sand. Jimin climbed onto Taehyung's lap, smiling softly as he breathed in Taehyung's cologne. He had always loved the scent of pine and mint.
"Why didn't you get in the water?" Jimin asked, still smiling softly at Taehyung. Taehyung didn't really want to answer the question, he knew the only true answer was that he was too busy thinking about how he will end the seemingly perfect date by breaking Jimin's heart.
"I'm just a little cold already, I don't want to get ill or something ." Taehyung replied, smiling back. It wasn't a complete lie, the water was quite cold. The late night wind didn't help either.
Jimin hummed and climbed off of Taehyung, moving towards the picnic basket the two had brought with them, reaching in to grab a sandwich and a bottle of water. Turning back around he was met with a shaking Taehyung.
"If you're cold then we should eat now. We can leave after we finish." Jimin said, making Taehyung's heart crack as he noticed the male still had the soft smile on his face.
Taehyung weakly shook his head, too afraid to say any more than he needed to. Jimin grabbed a sandwich and bottle from the basket for Taehyung as well after seeing his reply. If Jimin could tell Taehyung's movements were sluggish and unmotivated, he didn't show it, simply handing Taehyung his food when he reached him with a smile.
Taehyung quickly finished his sandwich after saying a quick thank you to Jimin. He took a swig of his water then turned to his boyfriend.
"Jimin?" Taehyung asked, inhaling a shaky breath.
"Hmm?" Jimin hummed softly.
"I need to talk to you about something important."
"Yeah babe, what is it?"
"I've been thinking about this a lot recently," he swallowed and looked into Jimin's eyes. "And this is really hard for me to say."
"Tae, you're scaring me." Jimin said, realizing how serious the latter was and feeling nervousness start to bubble inside of him.
"I- I just- it's just that-" he took a deep breath before continuing. "Jimin, I think this relationship should end."
"What?! Has this been your intention the whole time we've been dating?! To make me fall for you and then leave?!" Jimins mood took a full one eighty, suddenly becoming furious.
"Jimin, listen." Taehyung sighed. "It was never my intention to hurt you. I did love you. But you had been distant and cold towards me lately, and I just- I started to lose feeling for you."
"B-but, you can't do this to me." Jimin said, while his voice broke. "You said 'forever', Tae! You promised! You- you can't just do this."
Taehyung felt nothing. He thought that maybe he would feel guilty, but he was numb to the words the other male said.
"I'm sorry Jimin. It's over." Taehyung said, walking to his truck, leaving a sobbing Jimin behind.
Taehyung released a huge sigh of relief once he was safely inside the vehicle, all of the nerves and anxiety he had over the situation went away as he turned the truck on and left the beach and Jimin behind him.
