"I want my bitter night and my life to be sweet."
-Park Saeroyi(Itaewon Class)~
"There hasn't been any changes since the last appointment. That isn't bad, but it's not good either. Have you been taking all of your treatments like you're supposed to?" Dr. Chae spoke, the slightest bit of sadness in his tone.
"So what does that entail?" Kai asked.
"We'll be slightly increasing your dosage of Interferon alfa and putting you back on cytarabine. We'll also see you back every two weeks instead of monthly to make sure the new stuff is working. Unless something comes up, of course. In that case, we'll need to see you back immediately."
"How much is that going to cost?" Jungkook questioned.
"I can show you once we order the new prescriptions."
Jungkook nodded and Dr. Chae left the room. Kai quickly looked and Jungkook, who wore a slightly worried expression on his face.
"Do we have the money for my new treatments?" Kai worredly asked.
"I'll get it paid for, don't worry about it." Jungkook quickly lied.
Kai stared at Jungkook for a few more seconds, deciding to let the subject drop and trust his cousin. The two sat in silence, waiting for the doctor to return to the room to give Kai his instructions and to give Jungkook the price. A long and silent ten minutes passed before Dr. Chae reentered the room.
"Alright Kai, you'll continue to take your Interferon alfa as you do now, but you'll need to use the Cytarabine three times a day. After each meal you eat, inject some into your arm."
Dr. Chae explained before turning to Jungkook to hand him the paper with the prices for everything on it. Externally Jungkook kept a straight face. But internally it was a completely different story. He felt like he could almost pass out. He was making a lot more money as Taehyung's lead dancer, but holy shit was this more than he currently had. While on tour, he didn't monitor his money as much as he usually would. He had less than he cared to admit. Plus, he was looking to move into a new, bigger, apartment. Between normal bills, food, a new apartment, and Kai's doctor appointments, Jungkook was struggling. But before his thoughts could consume him, he looked up at Dr. Chae.
"Did you already call in the prescriptions?" he calmly asked.
"Yes. They should be at your pharmacy in the next two hours." the elder woman responded. "Unless there is anything else either of you need, the appointment is over now."
Kai got off of the medical bed and Jungkook pushed himself out of the chair he was sitting in. The cousins said goodbye to the front desk staff and left the hospital.
"Jungkookie?" Kai asked, looking slightly down at his older cousin.
"Yes, Kai?" Jungkook quickly responded.
"How much more does it cost?" the younger quietly asked.
"It's more than usual, but I don't want you to worry about it. I have the money for it." Jungkook lied again, offering Kai a small smile to make it seem more believable.
"Are you sure?" Kai continued to question.
"Kai." Jungkook speaks in a warning tone. Kai immediately lets the subject drop, knowing better then to annoy the elder. "We have some time to kill before your prescriptions are ready. Let's get some food and then pick them up."
Kai quickly agreed to this, the pair getting into Jungkook's car to decide where they wanted to go to eat.
"There's a poke bowl place that's in between here and home." Kai offered.
"Then I guess we're getting poke."
Jungkook stated as he started his car. The car ride was filled with Kai and Jungkook singing loudly to whatever music played on the radio. A thought saddened Jungkook as he listened to Kai sing the old Bigbang song that was playing. Kai had dreamed of becoming an Idol, and he could have easily made it. But when they found out he had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, everything good going for him stopped. His entire life, all of his big plans, completely washed down the drain. Jungkook promised himself that he would make sure Kai got better so he could live out all of his big dreams, and maybe with his new job he could help Kai get to where he wanted to go. Jungkook would never abuse his power as lead dancer or as Taehyung boyfriend, but maybe once everything was over he could pull a few strings to give Kai the opportunity to make it big.
Jungkook cleared his head of all of his previous thoughts before pulling into the parking lot of the poke restaurant. He quickly got out of his car, Kai following in suit. The two walked into the restaurant and quickly got seated, their table being right next to a large window. Fast forward to when they were eating their food. Jungkook was looking out the window as he ate his food. As he lifted a bite of food towards his mouth, he froze.
There, staring right back at him with wide eyes, was San. And upon taking a longer look at the situation, he appeared to be on a date with Wooyoung. Jungkook and San stared at each other for around thirty seconds when Kai speaking broke Jungkook out of his trance.
"What?" Jungkook asked.
"What are you looking at?" Kai asked, starting to turn in his seat to look out the window.
"Oh, nothing. Just spaced out for a minute." Jungkook quickly lied. "How's your poke?"
"Good. Wanna try a bite?" Kai responded, seeming to forget about looking out the window.
"What kind did you get?" Jungkook asked as he started to take a small bite of Kai's food.
"Ahi tuna." Kai responded as he started taking a bit of Jungkook's. "You got salmon, right?"
"Yeah."
All was silent at the table as they ate their food.

"Hey, wanna play overwatch?" Kai asked, walking into Jungkook's room to see him on his laptop. "What are you doing?"
"I'm just doing some research." Jungkook says adjusting his glasses.
"God, I haven't seen you wear those glasses since you graduated." Kai giggled.
"Yeah, and for a good reason. These things are annoying." Jungkook muttered, rolling his eyes behind the black frames.
"But you look good." Kai exaggerated, quickly snapping a picture and sending it Taehyung.
Jungkook rolled his eyes again, chuckling slightly at his cousin as he closed his computer. A ding was heard from Jungkook's phone, both men knowing who it was.
"Your glasses are cute." Jungkook read in a monotone voice.
Kai started laughing as he threw himself onto Jungkook's bed.
"You never answered my question. Overwatch?"
"Could use something to distract myself." Jungkook shrugged, taking his glasses off and standing up.
