Sophia.
Last night had not turned out like we had planned, it was great, everything was great but that ending was just bloody awful and I want to erase it from my memory.
But not now.
Now, I have another problem.
“Oh, Sophia, eat your breakfast darling.” Roxanne scolds from across me and I smile at her, nodding my head while shoving around the salad on my plate, who even eats salad this early or at all for plain food. “Dunley why don't you tell her the news. I'm sure she'll love it.” She beams.
I sit up straighter and clear my throat, leaving my breakfast alone so that I can focus on the conversation at hand.
Roxanne hold told me, just yesterday, that they would come here in only a weeks time yet here they are now, exactly twenty four hours, happily sitting across from me.
I didn't even question it or complain because frankly, these people were my family too and I had to make time and care for them as well. I mean, dad was getting old anyway and that alone caused my heart to ache further because I had grown to love my old man so much in these last years.
He smiles at her and then at me, an old wrinkle smile that causes his eyes to narrow into barely there thin slits.
I watch him in amusement as he pulls out his briefcase, placing it on the table and pulling out documents. It reminds me of one of those olden day movies where lawyers would do the exact same thing back in the day.
“As you know, I'm growing older as these days pass by and so quickly too—” I know I should listen to his words.
But all I focus on is the tall man behind him, lots of tattoos and dark clothes, looking extremely delicious as his green eyes look around the room until they stop at me and I light up. He starts walking towards us and I blush like a teen.
We had woken up today with fresh minds and although last night's conversation was dreadful for me, we had promised to talk about it later after this meeting with my family— he had said he would join after a few minutes.
I shuffle over and he comes to sit beside me, intoxicating me with his familiar scent as he throws his arm behind.
It's only then that I realize no one's talking.
“Oh.” I chirp, smiling at the pair across.
They look absolutely godsmacked at the sight of this man next to me but I push that away, calling it nothing. I gesture back down at the documents and I smile. “I'm sorry about that but please, do continue.” I quietly say.
My father shuts his mouth and looks away from us, completely shutting out our conversation and I frown.
“We've set up a business deal of sorts.” Roxanne starts.
I watch as my father turns his head and glares at his sister and she glares right back, as if their speaking with their similar eyes. It gets so awkward between all of us.
I shift, moving more into Percy and his warmth because it's cold today too, it's actually freezing and my warmth clothes aren't doing me that good— I scold myself for not wearing my gloves, like he had told me to before leaving.
