Sophia.
Lilys eyes go glassy and she blinks continously again, trying her hardest not to cry again for the fourth time this evening and I don't blame her. I cried the first two times with her as well and I couldn't remember why I did.“And this?” I hear Charlie murmur in awe as he plays with Jake and the little baby girl, gently pulling at her fingers.
I roll my eyes at the sight and mainly because he spent twenty minutes clinging to my side before running off to the end of the room and asking to play with the little one.
I swear.
His such a drama king.
I glance back at my friend on the bed and smile at her. “Did they tell you when you'll be released? We could have a barbecue in celebration or something. . .” I suggest.
She chokes back a laugh and nods her head. I feel her squeeze my hand in her warm hold and she heavily sighs, slowly gazing around the room and then she looks back at me with her smile bright and wide— its so weird that as I sit here with her, I'm wishing that if something ever were to happen to me. I would want to still look this good in a hospital bed and gowns because she is fucking killing it.
“I would really like that. Thank you.” She beams before her smile drops. “They didn't tell me about the release yet.”
My heart stops for a second with never ending questions.
I open my mouth to at least get her to answer me, tell me if there's anything else that could be wrong with her but her boyfriend beats me to it and relives my pulling stress.
Jake comes to stand beside me and smiles fondly at her.
“You actually get released tomorrow at twelve in the day. I was meaning to tell you but I— I actually forgot, sorry.” He grins apologeticly and scratches the back of his head.
I turn my head away from him to look at the little boy in the corner, cradling the baby in his arms and staring down at her in complete wonder. His pink lips is parted and his eyes hold all of the curiosity in the world as he gently rocks her back and forth in his arms. His blonde hair flaps down and covers his eyes but he doesn't bother with removing it, irritated and annoyed like he normally would be doing, because his attention is currently elsewhere.
I can't help but smile and feel happy about this picture now. I almost make a mental note to ask him about it later but knowing him, I'll never get that answer if I had to ask.
Luca knocks on the door just as I start to get up and offer my seat to Jake, my heart beats faster at the man behind.
Percy looks completely pissed off but he doesn't bother to look in my direction, instead his eyes fall on his brother bundled at the corner and that's where it stays, only on the small boy for the next forty five minutes, how annoying.
I kiss Lily on her cheek once more and hug her softly before doing the same to the other two men, minus the kiss, who have been talking and conversing with me.
“Charlie, we're leaving.” I state and feel his hand wrap around mine and then we immediately leave the room.
“Why are you and brother not talking today?” He questions once we exist the hospital and I shrug, I too, wondering why we suddenly put distance between us but I'm much too focus on other things right now than to get hurt over the silly detail— that's not how it works, not anymore.
And then, I sense him before I feel or see him.
Percy pushes pass us and walks to his car that's parked near the entrance, I can see it from here. It is eye catching after all and no one besides him has one like that here.
