CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Upon arriving at the hospital I immediately get off the car and headed straight at the elevator. Alam ko namang susunod si Burn kaya hindi na 'ko nag-salita. Maramdaman ko naman kahit minsan ang sundan niya.

I'm so pathetic. I cannot speak yet. I'm tired of talking to Burnnon. When the elevator arrived at the second floor I saw lola Meda and lolo Grogie waiting outside. Mukhang nag-aantay at pasakay. I stepped outside of the elevator and kissed lola Meda's cheek.

"La, saan po ang punta niyo? May bibilhin po ba kayo? Gusto niyo pong ako na lang ang bibili?" I felt Burn put his hand on my shoulder and speak.

"Kami na lang ang bibili, lola. Why don't you just rest in the room?" He said softly. Bilib na rin naman na talaga ko sa kaniya. Ang galing niyang magpanggap na okay ang lahat, na para bang wala siyang ginawa na ikinasakit ng damdamin ko.

I tried to take his hand off my shoulder by moving it a little but he tightened his grip on it and smiled. A smile saying that I need to settle my attitude because we were in front of his grandmother.

"Naku, 'wag na. Puntahan niyo na si Amirn dahil gising na siya. Mauuna na kami at lumalalim na rin ang gabi. Hindi ako pupwedeng mapuyat mga apo." She lifted her hand and tap my shoulder. When they get to step in the elevator I saw lolo grogie giving Burnnon a sharp glare. Burn and I nodded as the elevator slowly closed.

"Bakit gano'n makatingin si lolo sa'yo? May ginawa ka ba?" Humarap ako sa kan'ya at nag-taas ng kilay.

"Bakit ba nagtatanong ka pa? Hindi ba't kanina pa tayo magkasama?" He shook his head and avoided my gaze.

Nauna akong maglakad patungo sa kwarto ni Amirn habang naka-sunod naman siya sa likod. I was about to knock on the door when he immediately grab the doorknob and twist to open it. I just sighed on what he did. Kahit kailan ay hindi siya pasensyosong tao.

"Da-Daddy? Why are you here po? Where's my mommy?" I heard Amirn's cute but sadness was evident on her voice.

"Mommy's here, baby Ami! How's my little girl?" I tried to sound lively even though I can feel my body begging to rest because of tiredness and sleepiness. The talk that I had with Burnnon on the bar made me feel drowsy.

I hug and kiss her head. She giggled and hugged me back. Kumalas din naman agad siya at sinilip si Burn sa aking likod.

"Mommy, why is he here po? Is he going to scold me because I got hospitalized? Oh my! My, he's staring at me! Tago mo Amirn, my!" She said and cover her face with the blanket. I look at Burn and nodded at him. He lifted his brow at me, asking what he's going to do. I mouthed 'please' and he just rolled his eyes and walk straight on our direction.

"Kiddo, how are you? Feeling sick? Anong sakit mo?"

Amirn slowly lowered the blanket that covered her face. I nodded at her. Urging to answer her father.

"I'm okay, da-daddy. A little pain in my stomach but nothing more because mommy is here." Burn nodded and smiled at her. Her eyes immediately widened and she looked at me. Nagtatanong ang kanyang mga mata. I laughed at her reaction and just shrugged.

"Can I sit here? I just want to sit here for a while. Will you let me?"

Amirn's mouth form a big O and blushed. Halata ang pagtataka sa kaniyang itsura habang kinakausap siya ni Burn. Maging ako ay nagtataka kung anong nangyari at bigla siyang naging mabait. Don't get me wrong but what I'm seeing right now is not the usual Burnnon when he's with us.
