The Perfect Pitch

C H A P T E R 2

I didn't feel like coming to school today but I have to. I need to fill out the form and tell Darcey. I figured that if I told Orion, something might go wrong.

"So you're telling me that your brother is going to be away and you're going to pretend to be him?" She asked

"Yes, crazy right?"

"Super crazy but Can you really pull this off? I mean you both have different lifestyles. How are you going to adjust to his life?"

Now that she mentioned it, I realized that we really have different lifestyles and it's going to be hard to be him. I have to be careful with what I do. I have to act like him, think like him.

"You're right, I have to be like him. I have to do exactly what he'd do. I can't believe I'm saying this but I have to be dumb like him and stay in his stupid class" Darcey and I went to class to meet up with Orion.

On my way there, Maddison approached me. If you're wondering, yes, she's the queen bee of our school and the head cheerleader. She rules the school and literally every guy wants to date her. Unlike other golden girls, she's slightly likeable though she can be a bitch sometimes. We're in a love hate relationship and are basically  frenemies.

She's my brother's "best friend". No, don't get me wrong, they're not in that kind of relationship. They're more of friends with benefits.

"Hey Maddie, What do you want?" I put on a fake smile

"I was just wondering if you would like to come to my party this Saturday. I heard you're taking a break from school as from next week. I would love it if you'd come"

"Really? Or you'd love it if my brother comes. You know that my brother is really overprotective and that'd he'd never let me go for a party alone. You also know that he won't come because he's trying to stay away from alcohol. You're just trying to use his love against him" She gasped and hugged me.

"This is why I love you, you're a really smart cookie. So will you come?"

"No"

"What if I told you that Andrew won't be there?"

"Ok but I didn't say yes" I collected the invitation from her.

"Are you going to Maddie's party? Tell me you are" We were at Orion locker

"I don't want to go because I don't feel like" I groaned

"You're going and that's final" Darcey said. I was still contemplating whether to go or not when some lunatic started yelling and making a lot of noise in this peaceful hall.

This has Laverne written over it because nobody is stupid enough to deliberately disturb people. The thing that pissed me off the fact that he was throwing his ball on people and nobody had the courage to yell at him.

I wanted to stay out of it but when his ball came flying across the hall and hit me in the shins. "That does it" I grabbed the ball and fired it, getting a very nice shot at him.

I guess Jace was right, my skills are still A+.

"Wow, you got some really sick moves Julian" Derek, my brother's friend who he doesn't shove his tongue down his throat said.

"Yes, I guess your brother's football skills also runs in your blood" Antonio, another guy on the team that my brother hangs out with.

"Listen Laverne, you can't come here start acting like an idiot. I know coming to school is a complete waste of time for you but you can at least pretend to have a brain for once in your life" I said very calmly.
